This car was dispatched on October 19th, 1964 and delivered and sold new at its San Francisco BMC dealership in 1965. It's still wearing its original color scheme of New White with Black trim and is a largely un-restored and well-preserved car. It has been maintained and lightly restored a necessary and is a lovely and healthy driving car. The bodywork on this car is very good to excellent. The panels display excellent fit and alignment, and they all shut very well. There are some dings and dents from normal use over the years. Paintwork appears to be an older single respray in its original color with plenty of touched up chips, crazing on the hood, and some slight mismatch in color to the panels. It's older but has a very genuine untouched feel to it. Bright work appears original and good overall. The front and rear screen rubbers have been replaced but still retain their original Triplex glass pieces. The car's interior trim is in lovely overall condition. Seats are very comfortable and have been re-trimmed in correct black hide. A newer carpet kit has been fitted. The original panel kit looks very nice. The dashboard wooden facia is striking and has been restored or renewed. The dash top pads and crash pads are excellent. The Surrey hardtop headliner has been renewed with newer wind lace, and the white soft top and frame are in good condition. The car still retains its original steering wheel and factory Triumph radio. Mechanically, the car is quite excellent. It starts easily on the key with no smoke and good oil pressure. The gearbox is very good and shifts well. It will occasionally pop out of third gear under hard acceleration. The car drives confidently and quietly down the road with excellent suspension. There is a receipt of $4430 from November of 2017 showing a full front suspension rebuild and thorough examination/rectifying of the car. The car feels well-tuned and is a ton of fun pushing it briskly around town. It's fitted with a nice set of Michelin XZX Radial tires. Underneath, everything appears to be in good order. The engine bay is very clean and highly original with the bonus of a desirable cast aluminum period valve cover. Overall, this factory delivered Surrey Top TR-4 has been fitted with Overdrive and is still wearing its original color scheme. It's a very genuine car with a nice old feel to it, but has been carefully maintained and restored as necessary by its few conscientious caretakers. It's a lovely car that can be used and enjoyed as is, and is a sensible investment going forward.
