Car description

Studebaker was an American wagon and automobile manufacturer based in South Bend Indiana. Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868 under the name of the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company the company was originally a producer of wagons for farmers miners and the military. The Starlight coupe was a unique 2-door body style offered by Studebaker Corporation of South Bend Indiana (United States) from 1947 to 1952 in its Champion and Commander model series. It was designed by Virgil Exner fo...rmerly of Raymond Loewy Associates. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1951 Studebaker Starlight Coupe for consideration. This is a low rust vehicle from Washington State that has been painted in "Candy Purple" by Custom Auto Body in North Canton Ohio by Randy Tietze. The graphics were done by Jim "Dauber" out of Cincinnati Ohio â€" it is finished with real silver leaf and custom pinstriping all done by Dauber. The custom front end is by "Fatman Fab" with power rack steering and disc brakes. The rear end is 9 3/4" rear springs and shocks are Mopar Performance Super stock battery is in the trunk and is concealed in the left rear quarter panel. Transmission is a Chrysler Torquflyte three speed with overdrive and a manual lock-up torque converter. For wheels this vehicle features Weld brand wheels in the front and rear. The engine is a Chrysler 318 Magnum with a hydraulic roller cam and tappets it has a 390 CFM carb on a Mopar performance intake manifold it is retrofit with a Mopar performance electronic ignition system and Mopar performance aluminum valve covers. The interior was finished by Jim Roll the foremost trimmer for the Lincoln Continental owners club; he also won @ Pebblebeach with Walter P Chryslers early 30's roadster.
