Car description

Beautifully kept Silver Cloud II coming from the former owner of 13 years! Showing just 55,000 actual miles and in excellent condition throughout! Cosmetically restored to include gorgeous two-tone exterior paint and soft leather interior! Features power steering, power windows, and air conditioning! One not to be overlooked for an established English car collection! Replacing the important but not tremendously popular Silver Dawn in 1955 was the Silver Cloud, offering body-on-frame construction, permitting both the typical Pressed Steel Company bodies... but also alternate configurations. In its sophomore year, it introduced power steering and air conditioning to the Rolls-Royce line for the first time. It was successful but by 1959 Rolls-Royce sought to further separate itself from the competition and introduced a new 6.2L V8 to replace the old 4.9L Inline 6. This car became the Silver Cloud II and was equally successful over its three year run, where power steering became standard and power windows found their way onto the option list. The Silver Cloud became one of the best high speed luxury saloons of the 1960's. And possessing more of earth's natural resources than most modern luxury sedans of today, along with arguably much more class, they should be the staple in any Rolls-Royce collection for its combination of elegant styling with modern drivability. We are very pleased to offer this 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Saloon finished in gorgeous Royal Blue over Silver Metallic with matching Silver pinstripe over beautifully soft Dark Blue Leather interior! The wheel covers are finished in contrasting style. Equipped with its original 6.2L V8 engine and Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, Lucas fog lamps, badge bar, upgraded Nakamichi AM/FM/Cassette radio with 5-disc in dash CD changer, passenger vanity mirror, Smiths instrumentation, rear seat tray tables, rear window defogger, added front & rear seatbelts, and Coker Classic 235/75R15 wide whitewall radial tires. Our example is exquisite in many ways, especially the fact it survives out of central Missouri collection where it was preserved beautifully! It remains exceptionally rust free with tight body lines, perfect gaps, with all hinged panels opening and closing with ease. It retains all original Triplex window glass, all of its tire changing equipment, matching spare tire, auxiliary flashlight, tire pump, and near complete small tool kit. It has remained in the same collectors hands since September 1996 through today. The odometer reports only 55,812 miles which we believe to be actual. It has been repainted professionally in the past with continued show worthy results today. The interior leather upholstery and carpeting were recovered during the same cosmetic restoration. The original interior wood trim is excellent. The exterior chrome appears original with plenty of shine, with mild surface wear visible on closer inspection. After its mechanical inspection in our service shop, we resealed the rear brake fluid reservoir, replaced brake fluid, and replaced the bushings on the park brake cable. We also changed the engine oil & filter, checked all lights for functionality, replaced the expansion valve & receiver dryer on the air conditioning system before evacuating & charging the system. The rear suspension damper reservoirs were topped off, but showing signs of slight seepage, so those will remain monitored at this time. The fuel tank was drained, along with the engine carburetors cleaned of old fuel, floats reset, fuel filter cleaned, and tuned for easy starts. The engine spark plugs were replaced for new NGK style during this process. We are happy to provide service receipts to the next owner to support our expense along with fresh fluids running throughout the brake system. The generator was replaced last in September 2012. All parts were supplied by Albers of Zionsville. Everything is in working order today including all gauges, lights, air conditioning, power windows, etc. It will also come with its original owner's manual and a storage battery maintainer. We invite all interested parties to call with additional questions, or schedule an opportunity to view this lovely example in person.
