We recently had an '85 Coupe that sold just days after we listed it and iscurrently on a ship on its way to the lucky new owner in Germany. This '84 911 Carrera Targa is an exceptional find and we expect it will find a new home quickly as well. This Guards Red beauty started its life in Alabama and in 1997 was sold to the 2nd owner in South Georgia. He owned the car up until a year ago when he sold it to his brother. He had only put 2000 miles on the car in his 18 years of ownership as it was truly a garage queen. The original owner hadalways had the car serviced and maintainedregularly but did not keep good records. The second owner had professional mechanics completely go through the car and take care of anything that was needed but again did not keep records.I will do my best to provideenough large images, video of the car starting up and running, nd an honest description to help you decide if this is the 911 Carrera you have been waiting for. As with all of our classics, e do have this Porsche listed on several other sites in addition to our own. If you decide this is the one for you feel free to call em to discuss how you can have this beauty in your garage before the next car guy or gal scoops it up. Sit back and enjoy! As you will see in the pictures below the paint and body on this 911 are outstanding!!! The body is truly near flawless however there may be an extremely tiny chip or flaw that I may have missed. The 2nd owner had a professional paint and body shop business and in 2007 decided theoriginal paint was ready to be refreshed. According to his brother the body was completely rust free and was stripped to bare metal before the gorgeous Guards Red base coat and clear coat were applied to the laser straight body. Now, ight years later the paint still looks fantastic which you would expect given that he always kept it in a garage and onlydrove the car 2000 miles in 18 years. The whale tail really helps to set this car off and looks great. All of the rubber moldings and black Targa bar area look close to new. This car never had any accidents and I do have the Auto Check report for anyone who would like to see the history. It scored a 70 when similar cars averaged between 32-60. I believe the pictures below will show you how sweet the paint and body are:The targa roof on this Carrera is a great feature and really gives you the open air feel while still maintaining most of the rigidity of a coupe. The Targa top on this car was recovered in high quality canvas in 2007 when the paint work was done and it looks great and fits very well. The seals around the targa top area look like they were replaced. The Targa top does fold and can be stored in the front trunk area when not in use. Here are some pics with the black targa top on the car:Complimenting the gorgeous Guards Red Exterior is an equally stunning black interior. The interior is in amazing condition and looks close to showroom new! Front seats were recovered in 2007 at the time of restoration and look brand new. Rear seat area looks great and looks like no one ever sat back there. Dash pad looks looks amazing. Door panels, arpeting, eadliner, ll look fantastic and I believe the carpeting may have been replaced as it looks too good to beoriginal. Power windows operate great and all of the glass is inexcellent condition. The original steering wheel looks awesome withalmost no wear. Everything seems to be working correctly with the exception of the clock. The Air conditioning was upgraded to R134 and is blowing cool right now but will need to be charged to be blowing as cold as you would want it to. An aftermarket stereo/cd player was neatly mounted in the original opening and a nice set of speakers were installed in the rear package tray area. You will be extremely pleased with the interior on this beautiful 911...have a look inside:Under the whale tail sits the original 3.2L air cooled, uel injected, cylinder with just under 99,600 miles on it. Although we do not have documentation on all of the maintenance we do know the car only had 3 owners and the 2nd owner has professional mechanics on staff that went through the car thoroughly when he got it and did any maintenance needed during his ownership which was very little. We took the car to a Porsche Club of America Certified technician and asked him to go through the car and let us know what he thought about it. He commented that it was in exceptional overall condition and had great oil pressure and the motor appeared to be completely original and never out of the car. He drove it 11 miles and felt it performed great. He commented that since it had not been driven on a regular basis that it would only get better the more it was driven. We have put about 50 miles on it and he was right. It seems to be pulling harder and stronger then the day it arrived. The suspension has all been maintained and this 911 handles exactly as you would expect one to. Gear box is nice and tigh, lutch feels great, nd she shifts smoothly through all of the gears. Another rarity is that this 911 does not leak a drip of oil!! This is always a great sign and vouches for the proper maintenance it received. Engine compartment is clean and original decals all appear to be present. The Fuchs wheels are in great shape and wrapped in Nitto radials that still have lots of tread life. Front trunk area is clean and solid with original spare in place. Unfortunately the original tools are no longer with the car. The undercarriage/floorpans are rock solid, riginal and dry with no issues! This 911 is ready to be driven and enjoyed...you will have a blast driving it any distance or just out to the local cruise-ins or shows. This is definitely one of the higher quality Targa Carrera's you will find on the market!! I have also posted a video after the pics below so you can hear it start up and running.HERE IS A SHORT VIDEO SO YOU CAN HEAR THIS 911 CARRERA START UP AND RUNNING (CLICK THE ARROW TO START):
