Car description

  • REVISED 04/22/19 (2:24PM CENTRAL TIME)

  • VERY CLEAN 1978 Porsche 911 SC 3.0 .
.I purchased this car from a gentleman in Southern California in October 2016 . To the best of my knowledge it had lived its life in Southern California as the rust free chassis shows. .It runs excellent, no smoking or funny noises, shifts excellent, no popping out of gear or anything like that. If you are looking for a concourse low mileage, one owne, documented since first oilchange immaculate 91, then keep looking buddy. If you are looking for a cool & clean fu, rust free goodlooking 911 that wont break your budget, I sugest you keep on reading .
.This car (first year SC) was upscale with options such as power windows, factory AC, power mirror, headlight washers & factory fog light, also included, but not installed ADS speakers. The car sits in a garage all year round, and doesn't get drove much in winter, but I do start it up at least every couple weeks during the winter
It has always been 100% rust free . Car was repainted in guards red in march of 2017 .(car came from factory in chocolate brown), clutch dis, pressure plate and disc was replaced in 201, while engine was for clutch replacement front and rear crank main seals were replaced along with Pelican parts smog pump removal plugs and oil return tubes, car has also been upgraded to turbo valve covers., . High mileage as car has always been on the road and driven but never abused .According to a document in the folder that came with the car states the engine was overhauled when it had 91k miles on it. (not a receipt, but a mention on a document) speaking of I have receipts going back to early 90', just receipts for various work and receipts for various parts.WUR (warm up regulator acts up sometimes when temps are cold, but once it is warmed up this is a Non-issue, runs and idles excellent afterwards.

It sports fully polished 16x7 (front) & 16x8(rear) fuchs alloys polished by Smith Brite works metal polishing with new Hankook ZR tires,
Car has Porsche Euro headlamps with new upgraded headlamp relay and new headlamp/turnsignal switch. The AC was working up until this late summe, It has a updated compressor kit r134 I realized it developed a leak,I found leak, replaced O-rings on hose, tried to fill myself with Freon, but was told it needs a vacuum pulled with air conditioning machine

Interior is a dark cocoa brow, it all appears to be mostly original (back seats have been recoverd) dash has a few common cracks (ABS overlay is available new) Top Latches where repaired in 2018., Pioneer CD player with new speakers front & rear, all gauges and speedo /odometer work.

Porsche never made a cabriolet in 1978 .This car was born as a Targa, in the early 90's it was converted to Cabriolet using factory parts (I have the receipts showing where the shop did the conversion) this was a easy and somewhat common conversion as the cabriolet and targa share the same reinforced structure, same doors, same windshield fram, upper striker latches and door glass. they would remove targa roll bar and back glass, then mount convertible folding system in place) car could easily be returned back if you had the targa parts. which I don't . Top is older, back window is still very clear.
(in pics shown (taken earlier this week, drivers side headlamp glass has rock chip, but was replaced two days ago, also water on ground is from car being washed off and then backed up to that spot where pics were taken,i have not attemted to clean engine compartment in a while so should clean up really well.
ill be happy to answer any more questions to serious buyers.

Re-cap. this is a GREAT Honest ca, sometimes when dealing with older porsches there are discrepancies sellers fail to mention, I am representing this car to the best of my knowledge .once again, I have receipts /work repair invoices dating back to the very early 90's..car is titled and located in Kentucky but does include its original blue and yellow California plate, also, all VIN numbers on car match as they should.engine ID number is 6581713 which decodes to 6 cylinde, 3.0 California market, 197, 1713 being the sequence number
,This is great car and truly a rust free southern California car, however some of the questions I have been asked are truly bizarr, I must say, while this is a very clean car, it is not perfect in the means it IS a 41 year old car that you can enjoy and have a blast without breaking the bank.
I have owned this car since October of 201, it was purchased as a weekend toy, but with that being said . I recently purchased a new vehicle that I am scheduled to pick up in one week,so motivated to sell/ I have lowered the price to a number i never dreamed of letting this car go for, but and looking for a quick sale. not a long drawn out process.
