Car description

1968 Porsche 912 Soft Window Targa in need of an aggressive restoration. No sales pitch here. If you are looking at this auction and considering a purchase than you know what it is and what it is worth. This project is not for the faint of heart and better attempted by someone with good welding and sheet metal skill coupled with lots of patience. The payoff will be worth it on this one as we all have seen values skyrocket on longhood cars. especially soft window Targas. Very desirable Tangerine over black which is my personal favorite color combination. VIN # 12870720 Engine # 1283441. Condition:Floors are gone. Underside is rough. Damage to right rear quarter. not sure what happened but this can be repaired during rocker replacement. Both rockers and door jambs have rust. Doors seem ok. and where paint isn't missing on the car the panels feel solid but no way to know the extent of rust until the car is media blasted. Fenders fairly solid but need repair in the usual places. Targa top needs a full rebuild. Windshield has a crack. Interior is mostly complete. Missing passenger seat. soft window boot. and misc. other small pieces. Exterior missing hood. decklid. bumpers and lights. What you see in the photos is what you get. Matching numbers car. I have the Porsche COA on order. but did confirm with PCNA that the car is matching numbers. I'll send the COA to the buyer once I receive in another 3 - 4 weeks. Odometer shows 53. 84 but whether or not this is actual mileage is unknown. The car has not run in many years. I cannot speak to the mechanics of the car. The engine does turn over by hand. The wheels are all 5 1/2Jx15 steel. No title. Maine does not issue titles for cars this old. I will issue a bill of sale to the buyer. I'm probably forgetting a number of things I wanted to say. so please ask if you have any questions or want clarification on anything. I can take additional photos upon request. Terms of sale:Cash is king. but I may be interested in doing a trade for another 911 or 912. I prefer coupes. Running or non-running cars will be considered. but I would prefer running. Depending on the trade offer cash may need to be added by either party to make the deal fair. Any potential trade offers must be agreed upon before a bid is placed. Otherwise it is understood that your bid is a straight cash offer. A non-refundable deposit in the amount equal to 5% of the sales price is due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. This is a non-running project car. All sales are final. As you can see we have a lot of snow at the present. The car is safely stored under a quality. breathable car cover (kinda late for that I know) however I would like to see the car out of my driveway sooner than later. I expect payment in full within 14 days of the end of the auction. I'd like the car picked up within 30. Transport is the responsibility of the buyer. I will help get it loaded. but the sale is considered as is where is. I may be able to deliver for a fee within a 500 mile radius which can be discussed and negotiated before the end of the auction. On Feb-01-15 at 20:25:16 PST. seller added the following information:I've had many requests for additional photos.  Ebay's 24 photo limit isn't enough. so I've created a dropbox account to share some more.  Please email me for the dropbox link. I can't seem to add it on ebay.  Thanks for all the interest Ladies and Gentlemen. On Feb-03-15 at 17:58:07 PST. seller added the following information:Got the COA in the mail today.  Added a picture of it to dropbox.  Looks like it was a nicely optioned Soft Window Targa.  Engine is matching per the COA.  Of note. the transmission number does not match the COA.  I don't have a lift. but from what I could see laying in the snow with my fat head squished between the frozen earth and the bottom of the engine I could read transmission number 1282980.  This would indicate a 1968 correct 5-speed transmission. upgraded at some point (maybe dealer swapped when new?) from the COA #1081498 4-speed transmission.
