Car description |

Our loss your gain. The owner bought this car for a shop project but now is going a different way. This is a vehicle we bought at a charity auction. Its clean title and has not been registered since 2006. It looks to have been under a car cover in a garage since 2006.
A little bit of an oddball though as it has manual windows and dealer installed air conditioning but was ordered with a spoiler.
We have a California clean title on the vehicle but we would prefer to sell it out of state for smog reasons. Most smog stations in California have issues with these pre OBD2 vehicles. If the car sells to a California buyer, we will work to find a smog station that can test the car.
The car has been out of California Dmv for quite a few years, but we don't know if there is any fees due. Please call DMV with the vin number and inquire about the fees. A California buyer will be responsible for any back fees due.If the car is sold out of state obviously there will be no fees due. If you have any questions about this please contact us.
We have a video of the car running we can show also.
- Interior: The interior is in great condition, has a few common issues but unmolested. The left seat bottom is worn as pictured, the headliner is stained and the steering wheel stitching has come loose. But the dash is not cracked and the rest is in nice shape.
- Exterior: The car does not look to be repainted, there is a small dent near the washer squirters and the sunroof panel has some scratches. The car has a Lake Tahoe license plate frame and the muffler tip and rear bumper side extensions show scraping and small dents that typically come from people with steep driveways. The previous owner looks to have removed the spoiler and judging by the holes in the decklid, the car probably was ordered with a spoiler which is now missing. They tried to cover the holes with bondo and primered the decklid but the engine side is original paint so the decklid is original to the car.
- Mechanical: When we got the car we drained the tank (almost full) of old gasoline. We installed a new fuel pump and filled the gas tank. Installed a battery and after a few attempts it fired right up. As with most flat six air cooled cars, after sitting so long oil had seeped past the valves and into the exhaust. So when it fired up we had a lot of smoke. We let it idle to check for issues which there were none and after a few long drives to burn the oil out of the Cat and muffler almost all of the smoke is gone. There is still a wisper of smoke on startup and should get less as the exhaust heats up and burns any residual oil remaining in the exhaust. The transmission shifts good.
- Suspension: Drives like an aircooled 911, has the normal clunks all torsion bar suspension 911's have.
A little bit of an oddball though as it has manual windows and dealer installed air conditioning but was ordered with a spoiler.
