Car description

I have relisted this item due to the previous winner declining to pay. I didn't think I would have to say this because eBay seems to make this pretty clear: but if you're not absolutely sure you want the car then DON'T BID! If you change your mind about a bid make sure you contact me so I can cancel your bid! This listing is for a 1978 Firebird Formula. This car has a set of factory options that are rare in this combination. It is a Formula (which had the lowest production numbers between the Base/Esprit/Formula/Trans-Am versions in '78). it has the optional 350ci Chevy LM1 small block V8 with four barrel carb (1978 being the first year this engine was available in the Firebirds). an Automatic Transmission. plus it has factory Air Conditioning. Cruise Control. the Rally Gauge package. a clock. and is black on black. The Rally II wheels all have their Pontiac center-caps intact as well as the stainless ring inserts. Included with the car is over $1200 worth of parts (brand new. still in packaging) including:-rear quarter panel skins-front window. wheel arch. and door trim pieces-complete weather stripping kit (Year One WS704D)-full '78 Pontiac shop manualThe car has 50k miles on the odometer. but it's very likely it rolled over and is actually 150k miles (the odometer on these cars doesn't have a 100k place). The title reflects this and is listed as odometer exempt. The engine can be tough to start (I think the carburetor needs adjusting) but runs smoothly and quietly with sharp throttle response once it has warmed up. The tough start is more pronounced if it's not being run regularly because it will burn oil when it is started. After the initial burn off it stops smoking and runs normally. The alternator has been replaced as well as some basic maintenance (new belts. spark plugs. air filter. fuel filter. oil filter. and engine oil). It drives well enough that I can move it around the driveway and garage. but I've never had it on the road so I can't assess ride quality. The interior is about what you'd expect for a 37 year old car that's been driven. There's wear on items like handles and cranks. the dash has a sizable crack in the center. and the headliner has seen better days. However it shouldn't be a gut-job: the carpet and rear seats are excellent. the front seats have only mild wear. and mechanically there don't appear to be any big problems. The windows all roll their full range. the doors lock inside and out. the seats slide and tilt. the heat blows hot (though the A/C isn't working). and the adjustable side mirror works fine. The biggest shortcoming of the car is that the body is in need of some rust repair and it will need a new paintjob. The rear quarters will need to have a significant area around the wheels repaired (but a set of new outer skins is included that should make that repair much easier) and the bottom corners of the back window are rusted (a very common problem on these cars). The front fenders. floors. trunk. bumpers. and hood all appear to be in good condition and to the best of my knowledge should not require any major fixes. The glass is also in good shape without any cracks or chips. Also included with the car is a lot of the original paperwork. including the invoice showing the options. Please feel free to ask any questions. The vehicle is sold as is. where is. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs. The additional parts all fit inside the car so you MUST choose a shipper who allows parts inside the vehicle (not all companies allow this so MAKE SURE YOU CONFIRM). The extra parts would be very expensive to ship separately due to their awkward size and high weight and I currently have no way of packaging them for shipping separately. The car has a clean New Hampshire antique vehicle title. A deposit of $200 is required within 48 hours of the action closing. The remaining balance is to be paid within one week via cashier's check or money order. No personal checks.
