Be sure to tour this historic museum if you find yourself in Dallas. Texas. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' showroom is located only minutes away. The Tyrol blue base/clearcoat paint shows very well. The body is straight and in good condition. There is some notable body filler. primarily on the rear quarter panels under closer inspection. Although the styling was essentially a carry-over from the '66 model year. there were differences. The plastic grille inserts were replaced with a chromed wire mesh design. Under the hood is this stout rebuilt 400 cubic inch V8. We don't have a PHS report for this car. but this is a XU engine. the correct year. originally an automatic-backed engine. There were four available versions of the 400 in '67. from a 255 horsepower 2bbl. economy version to two different 360 horsepower versions. This powerplant is on the closer end of the higher horsepower version with its increased exhaust flow and induction. New pistons. rings and bearings were installed. The cylinder heads were rebuilt with a fresh valve job. New gaskets and freeze plugs were installed throughout and the engine refinished cosmetically in the correct Pontiac Blue. Cooling duties are handled via an aluminum radiator. An Edelbrock Performer Pontiac aluminum intake has been installed as well. Here is a photo summary of the recent mechanical work performed. The rear tail light panels are different for the '67 model year. utilizing four horizontal slots per side. The factory identification plate and VIN plates are in place. This is a Kansas built car finished in the correct Tyrol Blue Metallic. Open the doors to 1967. The interior features factory black vinyl bucket seating & the factory dash along with a Sun mini tachometer mounted on the steering column. The dash pad is in good condition as are the door panels. The radio has been replaced with an updated Pontiac AM/FM stereo. The HURST 4-speed shifter goes through the gears with authority and the clutch grips strong. We have a factory center console that is not installed. The upholstery shows well front to back. The door undersides are solid. The undercarriage showcases good solid flooring and framework throughout. The engine underside is clean and detailed as is the differential. The exhaust system has been replaced and sounds excellent. There is some minor rust-through on the inner quarter panel skins. mainly on the driver side rear. The quarter panels have been worked and smoothed prior to the repaint. You can see evidence of the body work. We have the factory center console as well as a spare tire/wheel. We also have an additional aluminum intake manifold for this car. The wheels of choice are these polished Torque-Thrust style wheels fitted with Winston radial tires sized at 215/65R15s up front & 235/60R15s out back. The tires are older and showing some dry cracking. The rocker panels are exposed and in excellent condition. Many '67 GTOs run the larger lower molding trim piece.
