Car description

I have a 1956 Pontiac Starchief Convertible for sale. I have had it for a year or so but have decided that I have enough projects to keep me busy until I am over 100 years old. That said, I have to let some of them go.
I bought it down in Southern California, near Palm Springs. I was told that it had been in storage since 1972. Both of the original California black plates are present. The guy that had it was asking $17,500 to begin with. It looked like it needed a lot of work and the pics were pretty vague. We made a deal and I proudly brought her home. She now resides in my shop with 5 other convertibles. Out of the weather finally. { THERE IS A 56 CHEVY BEL AIR CONVERTIBLE IN THE BACKGROUND IN ONE OF THE PICS. I ALREADY SOLD IT. IT IS GONE AND UNDER RESTORATION. SORRY }
One of the last pics is of her on the trailer, when I picked her up. You can see that the hubcaps were missing. She had low profile junker tires. The grille, grille guard and front bumper were all banged up. I bought other Pontiacs and parts to come up with the parts that are on her now. I located a correct set of 56 Pontiac wheels and some used WWW tires. Got all 4 hubcaps, from 2 different vendors, on Ebay. There is also a pic of her as we were installing the parts. It is all back together now. Hood is on etc.
For some reason I don't have a pic of the motor or the trunk. I will take some soon and post them. The trunk is rust free!
The only two things missing now are one headlight ring and the lower portion of the 4bbl oil bath air cleaner, just the base. I have located everything else. The carb was missing but I was able to locate the correct, rebuilt carb, for her through my buddy Joe. We just installed it but have not tried to fire the motor as of yet. It does turn freely. We need to pull the plugs and put some oil down the cylinders, change the oil etc before we try to light her off.
There is quite a bit of rust in the floors and quarters. I have a career body man that I have contracted to create and install the patch panels. He is 70 years old and does his bodywork old school. No rivets, overlaid panels, bondo etc. He makes each panel and makes it to fit then expertly welds it in! If you purchase the car I can put you in touch with him if you would like for him to do the repairs.
The body is real straight. It looks to have never had any damage. Just the cancer issues. The interior is pretty much non existent. The seat frames are there but have no padding or fabric. The door panels are there. The top bows are all there and not frozen. We have raised and lowered the frame.
I do have some spare parts from some of the other cars that I bought. They can go with the car. I have an extra transmission, radiator, radios, gas tank and some misc. smalls.
I have lien sale paperwork for her. I need to take her the the DMV office for them to verify the VIN. If you need a title for export I can have it in 2 to 3 weeks. I will put it in my name after it is paid for.
There were only 13,510 1956 Pontiac Starchief Convertibles produced as compared to the, more popular, 1956 Chevy Bel Air at 41,268 units. I bought my first 1956 Pontiacs, a 4 door hardtop and a convertible, both Starchiefs, in 1982.
I had owned 20 or 30 1956 Chevys by that point. I immediately fell in love with my Pontiacs!They had a larger V8, 4 speed Hydromatic trans rather than the 2 speed Powerglide, a lot more stainless trim and my 4 door had leather! Definitely a cut above my Chevys!
I am located about 2&1/2 hours North of LAX in Nipomo Ca 93444 and about 10 miles South of Pismo Beach.
I am not inclined to entertain lowball offers and do not need help selling.
Blessings!Dana805 550 8502
