Car description

1970 Sport Fury GT, real deal. The car runs and drives, brakes, is partially completed and seems quite solid and would be very good start for restoration. I believe the engine is original per code numbers, but non-original 727 transmission per numbers, no leaks from anything. This is a low option model.

Car codes per tag:

The car has a clear title, broadcast sheet, identification on car seems to be intact, I have a file of paperwork. I have more detailed written information on the car with more specifics about the engine, interior, issues. I have many more more photos of the car especially underneath, unfortunately none from a car lift.

I have been the owner of this car for 14 years. It arrived to me from the Seattle Washington area and prior to that was in the Spokane Washington area where I do believe it spent much of its prior life.

Periodically, I drive it around a little bit in neighborhood as well drive in my larger yard/lane but not on highway anymore due to condition of tires. The car's engine and transmission and other aspects seem clean as there are no any noticeable leaks in garage or on the driveway where it has been parked.

I have been asked repeatedly about the firewall. My guess is that the plum-crazy color firewall and supports were painted that color probably at the time the engine was out and being rebuilt/built in 1994.. The fenders and extensions are in primer and non-attached valance due to minor frontal accident sometime in the 1970s or 80s. The car was originally sunfire yellow color with light color vinyl top (been mostly removed) with black interior.

Like I said the engine was rebuild and built 25 years ago with about 8000 on that rebuild. Some of the main modifications include Accel super coil electronic ignition, ISKY racing cam R lifters, Weiand Intake/Carter Comp Carb, Milodon Deep Oil Pan, Deep Transmission pan, and more.

Some of the broken and/or missing parts include:

  • broken washer bottle

  • faded rear window package tray

  • tear in headliner in back (been this way since I owned it)

  • new tear in dash pad in front of driver seat, rest of pad is good and been conditioned

  • drivers arm rest torn

  • fading and bunched carpet in front the rest seems okay

  • tires need replaced

  • correct exhaust tips needed (I might have a line on pair per local person)

  • wheel moldings for three tires

  • windshield lower chrome strip passenger side

  • correct center caps for wheels

  • 440 super commando decals for air cleaner

  • New front valance panel may be needed, turn signals are out but have. They have cracked housings though.

  • Headlight door motor or rebuild of old, headlights do work. All other exterior lights work

Decent Aspects of car:

  • Solid Floor and Frame, undercoating must have been used, have more photos.

  • Rebuild but modified 440

  • 727 TorqueFlite transmission date coded to August 1971 or December 1973

  • Decent black interior especially seats and instrument panel

This GT like all of the others for sale recently is rough on outside, good start for restoration, since a some things are done (most of interior, engine/trans, etc), but many things need to be done and a few parts tracked down, a good donor car with similar sport top might be needed.

Inspections welcome and suggested for those seriously interested. I have more photos and couple videos or car starting and running to share. II will be checking messages daily but not hourly so please stay patient, I will attempt to get back with anyone as soon as possible. Car is sold as is where is and I am also selling locally.
