I have had this car for four years and it appears to have had a restoration done at some point, but I am not sure when. I have not been using the car lately and I am thinking it is time to move on, so here it is.
First off, this car drives great and is mechanically sound. It has new brakes and hoses on all four wheels and a complete exhaust system. It has been converted to a 12 volt system and everything works (lights, gauges, turn signals, etc.). It has air conditioning that is not original, but is functional. It has the original Thunderbolt straight eight cylinder engine and automatic transmission, both work great. New tires, plugs and belts. The only issue under the hood that I know of is a leaking exhaust gasket that ticks a bit when the engine warms up. The engine burns or leaks zero oil. The original pedal starting switch has been converted to a turn key/push button. Power steering works great but leaks a little, not a major concern. A great running car.
Some other good things are that the car has an excellent frame, floor pans and trunk pan, they are really in great shape. I have replaced the dog dish hubcaps/trim rings with the stainless hubcaps because the dog dishes started to rust. I will honestly try to explain what I know about the car, so on to some known issues. There is some rust beginning to bubble above the rear tires and at the bottom of the doors. There is also one spot on the passenger side under the rear window. The bumpers are pealing and rust in spots. The trunk lock and the hood ornament are pitted.I tried to show all of the spots in the pictures of the link. The rubber on the door windows will need to be replaced soon. That is really all the bad. This is and has been a driver, so it is not a show car, it has dings here and there and the carpet is worn. It is a fun car to drive and it gets a lot of attention. Hit me up if you have any questions.
