Car description

1954 PackardPacific

I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. I am not a dealer.

This is a great original 1954 Packard Pacific! It was purchased new by Leo and Ruth Gosnell. They drove the car sparingly through 1966 and then parked it in the garage for a period of time. After Leo passed away, Ruth sold the car in 1988 to a Packard collector. It has been owned by responsible Packard owners and car show only driven since that time. The car had 38,500 original miles in 1988 and now has only 59,475 miles today. It is a very well kept original car and has always been garage kept. Some service records, paperwork, and history are included. Only 1,189 of this model were produced and only a handful remain today. This car came equipped with the largest and most powerful straight eight Packard ever made and also featured the "no-shift" Ultra-Matic Transmission. This particular car also has a few unusual options. If you know and love these cars, then you know they don't come up for sale very often!

Details/Features:

  • 359ci 8 Cylinder Engine (4 BBL, correct aluminum head, 212 HP)
  • Ultra-Matic Transmission
  • Factory Power Steering
  • Factory Power Brakes
  • Factory Power Antenna
  • Factory Spot Light
  • Sun Visor
  • Continental Kit
  • Fender Skirts
  • Dual Side Mirrors
  • Day/Night Mirror
  • Optional trunk light
  • Accessory Floor Mats
  • Wide White Wall Radial Tires
  • 12 Volt conversion
  • Electric fuel pump
  • Seat belts
  • Alternator conversion
  • Accessory floor mats
  • Detailed engine and trunk compartments

The engine runs smoothly and makes good power. The transmission also operates well. This is very easy to drive, especially with the factory power steering and brakes (which work well). The radio, clock, and spotlight are not currently functional however the power antenna does work. Fuel gauge is not working (have not yet investigated), but the speedometer and temperature gauge work. All of the lights, directional signals, and reverse lights are working. Dome light inside, gauge cluster, shift selector light, and trunk light also work ... If you're a Packard person, and you're familiar with these cars, you know they can sometimes be a little temperamental. This car doesn't appear to run hot or have a lot of gremlins, but I haven't taken it out on any long trips or had the shop go through it thoroughly as of yet. The 12 volt and alternator conversion should help with reliability. In addition, it also has radial tires and an electric fuel pump. The seat belts are also a plus.

This Packard is truly a work of art! I believe this is the best looking body style Packard made in the 1950s and was the last of the great straight eights. This car is beautiful everywhere you look, but it is not PERFECT or CONCOURSE (nor priced like it). It is a survivor original car with low miles ... The paint is older and could use some buffing/touch up to be nicer, but as you can see, it displays quite well just as it is. All of the chrome appears to be original and VERY nice for the age of the car. All of the glass is in great condition and the windows all go up and down nicely. Doors, trunk, and hood all open and close effortlessly. With the exception of the carpet, all of the interior is factory original and in remarkable condition! The dash and steering wheel are also beautifully preserved. When you sit in this car you can clearly see it is a well kept low mileage original!

Please see the photos and ask whatever questions you might have.

I reserve the right to end the listing early at any time for the right offer. The car could be for sale locally as well.

What could this car be valued at? If you look up NADA, you find that a car like this in excellent condition showing minimal wear holds a value of $32,400.00 (which does not include the low mileage). These cars are climbing in value very quickly. You might want to grab this one before someone else beats you to it. Hard to find them in this price range.

I welcome personal inspections and appraisers. Shown by appointment.
