Trabants were made of Duroplast, hich is a cotton based resin compound similar to fiberglass that is weather resistant, ery strong and rust proof built on a steel pan, uch like the Beetle. It has an aluminum 26 hp 600cc aircooled 2 cylinder 2 stroke engine mounted to a 4 speed, ith reverse, ront wheel drive transaxle. Trabis are very dependable and reliable. There are no pumps, .e. fuel, ater or oil to maintain in any Trabants. They are fun to drive, et good mileage @ 35mpg +, andle extremely well, re excellent in snow and weigh only 1350lbs. We bought it from a mechanic in Hungary . Just before he sold it to us he replaced the engine mounting brackets,sealants and many more parts. It only has 74,000 km which is about 45.000 original miles. It has the original drive train and trim, ow back seats, riginal steering wheel, riginal jack and spare etc. It has a new 12 volt battery, 0/1 oil/gas ratio engine.
