Car description

I originally bought this Hudson to restore but I'm retired and it has become painfully obvious that I'll probably never get the job done. Ithas a very straight body with only surface rust-no rustthrough anywhere! Paint looks original with some areas covered with primer. Interior shows wear butis usable as is (see pictures) It was sold to me with the understanding that the engine needed rebuilt because it smoked and wouldn't run over about 2500rpm. I discovered afterlots of investigation that the carbs had hugely oversize jets in it and it was overfueling and blowing black smoke. With a change of jets, t runs very well with little to no smoke with great power. Leaks some oil around the distributor. The previous owners grafted in a Dodge Dakota automatic transmission with overdrive and lockup. The overdrive has a toggle switch as does the lockup converter and it works surprisingly well! It has a set of headers (6 into 2) to which we added a couple of pipes with cherry bomb mufflers as a quick fix. Never finished the exhaust but it sounds mean! Doesn't look like they cut anything up so it should be fairly easy to return to original if desired. I do not have the original transmission or any of the original parts. Has been converted to 12 volts (previously) and needs a smaller alternator pulley to charge correctly-it is charging but not at a normal rate. Car does go down the highway great with lots of power. Brakes were completely rebuilt including the booster before I got it. Needs tires badly! Some of the wiring is substandard and needs redone especially for the transmission but it works fine. All in all, nice car you can drive as is or take to the next level if desired. Send an E-mail are give me (Rick) a call at 308-430-1778 if you have questions. Check my feedback-never an unhappy car customer!
