Car description

1954 Hudson Super Wasp

This is a good time to restore a classic "Stepdown" Hudson, nd this is the rearest of rare candidates; I think more parts are available now than most any time in the past; window glass, aillights, tc, re all available on eBay right now. Many of the "wear" parts (plug wires, rake parts, gnition parts) are interchangeable with other makes and models of cars. I watch the car restoration shows, nd this is an above average restoration candidate.

This is my Dad's 1954 Super Wasp (the last of 4 he owned), his is a one owner car, icked up by my mom at the Jefferson Street Hudson factory in late 1953 (see picture; factory display car is not this car) and driven from Detroit Michiganall the way to Idaho.Original Idaho title dated December 1953

This car could run with basic effort, ut really deserves a full resto. The last picture of the black Wasp is what my plans were; but I have decided I have too many other projects, nd wanted someone to have a nice restoration.

This Super Wasp has spent the last 40+ years mostly in an exposed car port, r in an enclosed garage, ut has spenttime outside. It is a rolling chassis (driveline out) and the engine ran several years ago. It is up on blocks in the garage, o pics are not great. The few stainless steel trim parts that I tried, eem to polish nicely.

Body is generally strait, ut has a few dents, nd shallow impact damageon the right rear quarter; you will be stunned at how thick the sheet metal is on this car. Paint needs bare metal take down for a decent paint job; there are areas of rust. Most glass got smacked out by neighborhood kids and BB guns, oth tail lights are broken, ut rear window glass is good (which is the one piece of glass I have not seen available). Interior is so-so, oor panels need a rebuild, ll fabric has deteriorated, ut the seating material is still decent....we suspect seats were recovered in the late 1960's. Instrument panel is in remarkable cosmetic shape and yes it has the shift knob and emerald center cap (green LED's would be killer on this speedo!).

I started the conversion to 12 volt; still have the 6 volt Hudson generator (pic) which is included, lso rebuilt master cylinder.

The Hudson Hornet was more plentiful; but the Wasp and Super Wasp had the beefy lines and the hood scoop...and the mystique. They are indeed rare.

There are extra wheels with cap retainers, nd 4 hub caps. The driveshaftand "brake frame" (pedal via brake frame actuates a mechanical brake system should hydraulics fail- a Hudson safety feature) have been removed but are included, s is every original part we have...with the exception of a spare 6V AM radio.

Local pick up only. I will have it ready to roll out of the garage- driveway has a significant incline; transport vehicle will need a winch.

None of the normal "Big 3" classic 1950's pricing guidelines seem to apply given the rarity; I expect this will be a best offer situation.
