Car description

1968 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible- A true 442 Convertible with a non matching 455. An excellent driver quality 442. i have driven this 442 extensively. It runs and drives well. No overheating. Power steering with manual brakes. The shifter is a bit sticky going into Reverse but works well once you get the hang of it. I will detail the conditionbelow.

The motor has a casting number looks like a F or FA. I have been told the early stick type font is on 69 or early 70. The font is stick type number 2464. I believe the transmission is a Muncie M20. I do not think it was a 4 speed when it was new.
Body: The body work and paint is much older. I would guess late 90's. It appears to be a clear coat base coat finish. The floor pans appear very nice. They have probably been replaced. The workmanship looks good. The drivers rear quarter has been replaced. The quarter was welded in about 3 inches down from the top of the fender. The workmanship is not good. There is evidence of bubbling. Generally the paint presents well. We have color sanded and rubbed the finish and it shows very well. The stainless and chrome all show well. None of it appears to be reproduction. All appear original. The top is power, and it works. Its not fast, but raises and lowers properly. The condition of the top is excellent.
Interior: Interior shows as original and in verygood condition. This car was stored in a rickety garage in NewHampshire which allowedmoister top settle in. The moister has created mold in several spots. We now have it in Phoenix and the mildewhas diedoff in the 110 degree heat. As per the exterior if items were replacedthey appear to be original not reproduction.
Motor and Transmission: Motor is the aforementioned455. Runs great. Starts right up. Has great power. Slight hesitationwhen you nail it, and then immediatelyannihilatethe tire. The rear is a limited slip, but it appears to want to just burn one tire easily. The clutch feels good grabs where it should. The transmission shiftswell with the exceptionof a little notchyin reverse.
Trunk: The trunk pan looks excellent. I do not see evidence of pan replacement but it looks fantastic. The spare tire and jack are present. The plate for the jack is not present.
Overall this 442 is a driver quality, fun to drive, dependable muscle car. I am in the process of titling it in Phoenix for ease of ownership.
