1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Convertible

455 Oldsmobile engine with 550 hp New weatherstripping and window felt Fully functional Ram Air Hood and Factory induction air cleaner Custom large capacity (10 qt.) oil pan MSD Ignition with Rev Limiter, Super Coil & HEI Distributor Ice cold A/C

The 455 CID motor was re-engineered by AMT (Gateway Racing Affiliate) and built to 550 HP spec. The carb and manifold has been dynoed at 405 HP at owners request. For the full 550 horsepower, a top manifold and carburetor change can make it happen.

High Cooling Performance/large capacity Aluminum Race Radiator complete with electric fan system and temperature sensors in addition to the factory designed cooling clutch fan. Electric system also senses and cools motor after shutdown.

The GM Turbo 400 transmission was re-engineered with heavy duty components, heavy duty oversized transmission cooler and related braided stainless steel hoses.

Two and a half inch Magna Flow dual exhaust system with high temp ceramic headers.

12 Bolt custom made Posi by USA DriveTrain in Las Vegas, Nevada with 3.73 gears and high tensile strength axles and gears. The ten inch shorter design allows for 275/R60/15 tires. Custom fabricated Heavy Duty driveshaft.

The car has Hotchkis & Koni performance suspension. Wilwood racing disc brakes on a all four wheels. Pedal/Brake pressure is adjustable with the “dail in” featured near the master cylinder. High strength racing rims with Cooper Cobra radials.

Upgraded and new wiring harness for new power window regulators, switches, and related hardware. Complete new Rally-Pac gauges by “The Parts Place”. Certified with serial numbers including fully functional “speed alert” speedometer, quartz upgraded Tic-Toc-Tach combination clock, tachometer and multigauge. All gauges have been upgraded to dimmable LED high output bulbs.

New heavyweught convertible top with solid glass. New convertible top motor and hydrolic oil tubing and wiring. New switch and wiring. All new wood spars.

Ice cold R12 air conditioning- on an 86° day with 60% humidity, the A/C produced 47° air at the vents.

New Old Stock sheet metal was collected over the years prior to rebuild. Note the original GM sticker on interior of full rear quarter panel. GM NOS sheet metal was located and purchased one piece at a time. Original GM sheet metal body parts, stored for decades, were located and acquired making the build using high quality GM parts. Only one front fender is OEM as an original was never found.

Extensive NOS sheet metal throughout the build- full rear quarters both left and right, trunk deck lid, driver and passenger doors. NOS brackets, NOS chrome trim, new body bushings, driver and passenger door glass and an aftermarket primary tinted windshield complete with radio antenna.

All of the sheet metal were thoroughly stripped, prepared, primed, painted, and sealed. The floor steel is covered with Dynamat for sound and heat control.
