Up here for auction is not only a very nice 1957 StarFire Series 98 Holiday Special Sedan, but One with a Very Hard to find and Rare Original "J2" Engine Package. This car originally would have had 3x2 Carburetors, the original owner decided to take off the front and rear carbs and blocked off the ports, but the middle carb is still there.
I purchased this car recently from a local 66 yr old Northern Californian who inherited it from his grandfather. It has been in his family basically since it was new. The grandfather drove it up into the 70's until he passed away and passed it onto the grandson, he drove it for a few years then put it away in storage until last week when I pulled it from the side of his house.
This car has some amazing Patina, if you're into that kind of thing. This would make a really sweet "rat rod" if you want to call it that. It's got it all, nice rustic feel to it. The car is solid. the Paint is cracking like an old oil painting. I tried to capture most of that in the pictures. I personally think its usable. There's one spot where someone has done some bondo repairs on the passenger quarter panel, but just adds to the flavor. The interior is pretty crispy, but could be cleaned up and used. but most importantly it seems to be all there and all very original. This car has been sitting around since the early 80's so it is what it is. And man what a cool back window setup and body lines. Reminds me of the Split window next to it. Also it has 3 of the 4 original "Pop Out Hubcaps"...Its possible to find the 4th one on eBay.
I don't know anything about the engine, it goes through the gears from park to drive, thats about as much as I know about it. We haven't tried to hook up a battery or turn the engine. If you'd like some more pictures or any more info, or want to come see it any time, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding
