Car description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very nice MGB Roadster in arguably the best color scheme. This car was just purchased from it's restorer in Virginia who was a retired gentleman, but had a hobby staying busy by restoring MGB's and starting with nice originals. This car shows a believed low mileage of just over 49k. It's a West Coast sourced car and the body looks completely straight, honest, and rust free with excellent panel gapping. It's been comprehensively restored and is now ready to be enjoyed.

Details of this restoration include stripping the exterior body of it's chrome, lights, bumpers, and windshield. All body / paint work was carried out by a respected restoration shop in Maryland with extensive experience with MGB’s. This was performed on what appears to be a superb body shell. Bright work and light lenses on the car are mostly the original items in nice condition, detailed and cleaned, and placed back onto the car. The front grille assembly is brand new. The bumper bars are decent originals. A fresh body rubber kit was fitted.

The car's interior is lovely and has been completely renewed including a new biscuit panel kit, newly reupholstered seats in quality vinyl, new dash top cap, arm bars, door seals, full carpet set, overlay floor mats, crush grain vinyl black soft top, original tonneau cover and top boot (slight tear, but original). All of the instruments are functioning correctly as well as all of the other electrical items on the car. The original dashboard and steering wheel look excellent. The factory BMC hardtop is a great bonus ($1500 value) and is in nice condition, fitting the car well. It has been restored with new plexi-glass quarter windows and door seals.

Mechanically, the car feels very good going down the road and feels like its genuine low miles showing. Rebuilt engine includes:

Valve guides, hardened exhaust seats, Lifters, Intake and exhaust valves, Rod & main bearings, piston Rings, Cam bearings, Clutch disk, pressure plate and throw-out bearing.

New radiator hoses It has just received plenty of freshening up work to its ancillaries including rebuilt carb set, new water pump, hoses, fuel system, ignition, exhaust system, etc. and feels well-tuned and ready to go. The engine sounds healthy with great oil pressure, no smoke, and runs cool. The gearbox and clutch feel tight and precise. The front suspension has been attended to with newer bushings, cleaned and painted. The braking system has been inspected and renewed with brake flex hoses, front and rear, master cylinders, and new brake pads. The car rides on a new, nice, smooth 175/70x15 radial tire set with its factory wire wheels. The underside is unrestored but looks normal and very solid. Out on the road, the car feels and drives very confident and safe.

The car includes its spare wheel, jack, knock-off wrench, hammer, factory tonneau cover and top boot, tonneau stirrups in the bag, and a few spares.

Overall, a lovely driving MGB in the best colors that has just completed a full cosmetic restoration and thorough mechanical going-over. This car is offered with the rare optional factory hardtop and wire wheels. One would be hard pressed to find a similar car in this strong combination.
