Car description

Eleven years ago, I inherited my father's 1953 MG TD. The MG had been sitting in my father's barn for around 50 years and was going to be a father-son restoration project, but that never came to be.After 11 more years of sitting in my garage, I would now like to sell the car as I do not have the desire to restore it myself.

The MG was a one owner vehicle (my father), has a clear title (not the original 1953 title), 75,000 miles, is all matching numbers and has not been restored. The engine and transmission both turn over freely via the hand crank. The car rolls easily, the hand brake works and the all the tires hold air.The frame rails are straight and true, as are all the suspension components. There appears to be no sign of accident damage to the car.

There is some rusting on the sides of the body behind the doors and under the front fenders and running boards (as to be expected on a MG), but the underlying wood appears to be solid. The wood on the bottom of the driver's door has had a fiberglass strip applied, so perhaps there once was a problem there. Both doors feel solid. The wood framing of the body itself seems solid and true. The gas tank shows signs of being worked on by my father, so I suspect there was some rust thru on the bottom of the tank. The gas tank and spare tire rack are temporarily attached to allow the car to be moved around my garage.

The car is complete except for a few missing items: the fabric top (I have the top frame, bows and all 4 side curtains with frames), the radiator cap, the gas tank hold-down straps and attachment brackets and assorted nuts & bolts for the interior and trim. There might be an item or two missing from the car somewhere, but the MG looks to be complete.

About the title; sometime after returning from service in the Korean war, dad got this MG TD.Thru 50 years' time, starting a business, raising a family, and numerous moves and a divorce, the original 1953 title has been lost - imagine that! After a bit of research and proof of ownership, I presently have a clear title to the MG TD.

I can supply additional pictures if needed.
