Car description

I've owned this car for over 4 years and have put 9,000 miles on it in that time. I bought it out of the San Francisco area where it seems to have spent most of it's life based on the paperwork. It has approx 69,000 original miles and, as you can see, it is largely original down to the am/fm radio, door panels/speakers, most of the carpet, most of the paint, engine, smog equip, etc. I'm still amazed with how untouched it is after all these years.
After driving it home 400 miles when I bought it, I went through the car from end to end making sure it would continue to be reliable and also comfortable. I replaced the a-arm bushings with poly, all hoses, coolant, oil, plug wires, plugs as well as a rebuilt carburetor and new distributor and clutch/slave cylinders. The is a non-overdrive transmission that I replaced the fluid in at the same time. Compression readings at the time were: 1-130, 2-126, 3-135, 4-134. It starts, stops, runs and drives great. I drive it anywhere without hesitation and it just passed CA smog with ease.
Cosmetically, I recovered the seats using the original inner foams but using new webbing on the underside. The upper door pads I re-painted and the rear deck I added a new mat. The floor mats are Lloyd Ultimats and the steering wheel is a Moss leather-wrapped item while the shift knob is Walnut. I buffed the paint to bring back the shine and it came back nice given that it's mostly original. This car had the rear dog legs replaced at some point in it's life and the small holes you see in the front rocker areas were a result of the most recent previous owner driving it around Half Moon Bay for 2 years. I haven't done anything to address those areas and they haven't advanced in my 4 years of ownership. The doors open and close with ease so I wasn't worried about anything structural. The car comes with factory half and full tonneau covers as well as tonneau bars. The smaller fits up perfect. The larger cover has likely shrunk with age, I just lay it in place and use it more as an interior cover when out and about. The top and frame are nice and seemingly recent with clear windows. A quality fitted car cover, as pictured, is included.
I bought this car as a driver that I could fix up and be proud of.It's my 10th MG over the last 30 years and this one has proven to be the most reliable. It looks sharp and is a pleasure to drive and own. That said, it is just that, a nice driver with all sorts of touch-ups and little imperfections throughout. It is being listed with an opening bid with that in mind.
I am confident of the mileage on the car as it still had the plastic EGR odometer under the hood when I bought it not to mention how original it is all over especially with respect to the engine, paint and interior. Take a good look at all the photos and decide for yourself. It's a 42 year old MG that drips oil and has some idiosyncrasiesso please know and expect that before bidding. It's not fast or new, but it's a lot of fun and has more character than most cars.

I've been on ebay for over 20 years now with a perfect feedback rating. I've bought and sold several MGs in that time so bid with confidence. I have a clean and clear title for this car in my name and the registration is CA current through 8/1/19. Shipping will be your responsibility and cost. Feel free to ask questions as I'm sure there are little things I've missed. Good luck! Scott.
