Car description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this nice old MGA Roadster. These early, drum-brake cars drive wonderfully well and still retain the simple, pretty, single taillight arrangement. This car was just purchased from a nice older gentleman in Northern California that restored the car cosmetically about 30 years ago, and has loved and enjoyed it ever since. It still presents well as a driver, but could benefit from some cosmetic attention down the road. The body on this car is quite nice and straight with good to very good panel fit. Paintwork is clearly older as evidenced by plenty of miscellaneous chips, some light checking, patchiness, old paint showing underneath. Nevertheless, it still presents well at distance and looks good for a driver. The bodywork looks very good with no accidents and would need just a little work around the doglegs/rockers before it's next respray. Front fenders ring out as nice and solid original sheetmetal, with excellent headlamp areas. Trunk floor is entirely solid. The car's interior is older but presentable and clean for a driver. A solid wood fascia has been fitted/attached over the old original steel dashboard, which is still present underneath. The car has a clever, proper, slide out glove box. Instruments and switches are original. A period Stewart Warner amp gauge has been fitted. The car includes it's top frame assembly/top which is currently removed, a sidecurtain set, jack, knock-off hammer.Mechanically, this car runs, drives, and performs very well on the road. It has it's correct 1500cc engine fitted. The car starts easily, revs very well with no smoke or noises, has great oil pressure running at 55-70lbs. The exhaust note is fantastic, pushing out through a single, small glasspack/silencer. Someone has cleverly fit an attractive, competition-style cold air box to the carburetor set, along with an alternator. The clutch and brakes feel good, as well as quiet steering and suspension. The gearbox is a delight going up through the gears, a little rebellious downshifting...The car rolls nicely on it's clean painted 48-spoke wire wheel set. The tires are old Michelin ZX's that are run smoothly, but should be replaced because of their age.Overall, a charming 1500 Roadster with long California history. This car could be enjoyed right away as a driver, and is sensibly priced for such good fun and looks.
