Car description

1973 Mercury Cougar Convertible 73,340 Miles High-Resolution Scans of Protecto Plate, Marti Report, Ownercard, Window Sticker, Dealer Sales Invoice, Manuals Medium Aqua over Black Vinyl Buckets (1 of only 7 produced for '73!) Q-Code 351ci 4V V8 / C6 Automatic VIN: 3F92Q551558 3: 1973 Model Year F: Dearborn, MI Assembly Plant 92: Cougar 2dr Convertible Q: 351ci-4V V8 551558: Serial Number Build Date: March 27th, 1973 Paint: Medium Aqua (4N) Trim: Black Knit Vinyl Bucket Seats (CA) Transmission: C6 Automatic (U) Axle: 3.25 Traction-Lok Rear Axle (R) District Sales Office: Buffalo, NY (31) Exterior: - Please see the... video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up. A show-worthy car no doubt, but there are a couple little spots of bubbles under the paint to be aware of. At the forward lower corner of the passenger door, as well as the rear corner of the driver's door. - Paint is excellent aside from the aforementioned blemishes, highlighted in the video. Paint was clearly done to a high standard, and the color is truly striking in person. It is the original color, Medium Aqua, though a respray. We put a paint gauge all over the car, looking for bondo, and found very little. The paint gauge indicated a little filler at the lowest point just behind the passenger rear wheel, as well as at the forward corner of the driver door. Overall a very dry, straight body. - All of the polished surfaces (Bumpers, trim, hubcaps, etc) are in excellent shape, with no oxidation. - Black powered convertible top is in great shape, with no punctures or ill fitment. Rear window is glass, not plastic. - Wheels are in excellent shape. Michelin MX4 all season tires are in nice shape as well, with no dryness and little wear. DOT A51X 1601. - Doors open and close perfectly smooth. Do not need to be slammed. Panel fitment is excellent throughout. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Interior: - Again, please defer to the photos and video. Black vinyl buckets are excellent, with no significant wear, even on the driver's outer bolster. There is one small mark (stain?) on the driver's seat bottom, however. Door panels show no kicked-open damage, though the driver's armrest, where your elbow would rest, shows evidence of a prior repair. Rear seats are in great shape. - Dash is very nice. No cracks on top, though there is a partial crack on the glovebox lid. Gauges are all functional and look good, with no haziness or signs of age. Odometer reads 73,340 and is functional and believed to be accurate. Heat and fan are functional. This car does not have air conditioning. Factory AM radio is functional, and the SBE Cortez CB radio powers on as well. Lights and signals are all functional inside and out, as are wipers and the powered top. - Carpeting is in nice shape throughout, with no discoloring, fraying, etc. Car will also come with a set of Cougar floormats. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks quite good underneath. It has definitely been undercoated previously, as there's a little bit of texture to the black finish. No through rust, and it's great to see that many of the bushings and wear items look close to new. - This car has front disc brakes, rear drums. It also has power steering. Truly a joy to drive. It fires right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts smoothly and on time, tracks nice and straight, brakes straight and effectively, and steering is tight and direct. Very, very good overall. Shocks are relatively new and the ride is excellent. No creaks, clangs, exhaust leaks, or other noises or tendencies of concern. As it sits now, this car is in need of nothing other than a new owner to use and enjoy it. The car does have seatbelts, with lap belts both up front and in the back.
