Car description

Trying to get a couple projects out of the garage, we are selling together a 1968 J Code Mercury Cougar in solid overall shape along with a rare early 1968 Cobrajet 428 full block engine.
Practically rust free car in desirable IVY GOLD color comes with new floor pans. Rock solid body panels, trunk drops and frame rails. Car has been taken apart to start a restore but we are deciding to sell it with the engine and a c6 transmission as a package deal. New full length floor pans were added.
The car has its original IVY GOLD color throughout the car, and will be easy for a restore, Very little body work ever done and very little will be needed to get her going. It did have a fabric roof that needed to be removed but it doesnt have any rust throughs you often need in a vinyl roof replacement. Car is a rare J Code car. The shock towers are rock solid as are all the welds, still crisp and straight.

Glass is all there. Underside of doors are solid. May be missing some small interior, fabric and chrome pieces, As you can see the hideaway headlights are in place._____________________________________________________________________________________________

It is the ULTIMATE guide for anyone wanting to verify authenticity of parts, especially performance Ford parts like Cobrajet engines. This one is listed as on the earliest Cobrajet engines ever made. The date of the build is 8C11 or March 11th 1968, and with it being on a "1967" Block means it was NOT installed in a 1969 unit. It would have been in only one of the early 1968 models Ford ever produced with 428CJ engines in 1968...like possibly a Shelby GT500

If you are building a 1968 Shelby GT500 or clone, then the date on this block will keep your restore on track for authenticity. We dont have any details which car this was removed from.
It has all the correct markings of the Cobrajet engine so rest assured this is the REAL DEAL. on a 1967 C7ME-A with the "C" scratch

"C" scratch visible on this block

1UB crank which is the ABSOLUTELY CORRECT crankshaft for this early 1968 Cobrajet engine so it is original to this car.

The heads were early 14 bolt GT500 heads in fine condition with redone valves and springs ready for use.

The block had already been in fine shape before being rebuilt. It already turned over by hand and had good compression in all 8 cylinders before the rebuild.. We wanted to inspect the unit before reselling for the next buyer.. Was in a running vehicle in 2018. Springs and valves look fine in the GT500 heads

We are also adding a solid shifting C6 transmission to go with this sale.

Sold as-is how -is with right to inspect. No warranties expressed or implied. The price will go UP ON THIS COMBINATION as we begin the restore process. So serious offer can get it. We can help with shipping anywhere in the US for the lowest price possible. You pay NO DISPATCHER FEE. All payments are non-refundable. $500 due at auction end with balance due within 3 days of auction end. Good Luck
