1971 Ford "European built" CapriLow rust AZ CAR - DESERT SURVIVOR - Awesome factory classic European / AmericanGt coupe. Really a great color combo (Silver on burgundy) . was factory AC too at one time. Up for auction: Originally this Capri was a 2000 model 4 cyl carsometime in the last few yrs. the prev owner started to do a V6 swap did a Ford V6 to it. The previous owner just lost interest in thisproject. he had 2 other Capris as well and concentrated more in the lastfew yrs on the V8 swap car he had. Not sure exactly what size V6 was but it looks to be from another Capri from the same era. Currently not running. has been off the road since 2009. We believe the trans is now a 5 speed as well. The car does havePDB and what looks to be dealer installed of factory AC at one timetoo and most of the stuff is still there under the hood and dash. A very rare option. THE CAR IS OBVIOUSLY A RESTORATION CANDIDATE !!this makes it a fun and affordable project for just about any buyerchecking it out right now :)How do you restore it ? Stock or restomod or maybe make it just a vintage road racing track car. Maybe clone it after a popular race car fromthe same era. All would look great and values. well hard to say. but eitherway. these cars values period are on the riSE and quickly being picked upby collectors all over the world. Seeing as this car has been sitting outside in the AZ weather day and nite. the cars interior has taken some beating. Most of the rust on the toppanels are surface only too. Under the car is very solid too. The desertheat has been very kind to this 40 yr old rare European Ford. We have keys for the car but its going to need a few things to get itrunning. If it doesnt sell the first time here on ebay. I plan on buying afew parts that it does need and try to at least get it running enough to get onto a car hauler under its own power and drive it around our holdinglot a bit. DRIVETRAIN: under the bonnet looks to be a later model 2600 or 3. 0Ford V6 motor and after shifting the transmission while sitting in the dr seatto me it feels like a 5 spd. To get it running. its going to need at least a starter. exhaust hooked up. and some other stuff under the hood. Rearend looks to be stock and original. and the car still wearing itsoriginal style steel wheels. I wasnt too motivated on getting it running. becauseI know that some potential buyers out there are tempted to do another motorswap to a small block 5. 0 or similar (and wouldnt that be NICE )Most real buyers are just looking for rust free clean bodys. such as this car here. NO RUST AROUND the UPPER STRUT MOUNTS. ZERO. INTERIOR: check out the pics. but the interior really needs alot of work. But seems to be fairly complete still. It even comes with what looksto be a factory lower console as well. just loose in the car. Pretty much all the rubber seals are baked and dry rot. as is most of the plastic and vinyltoo. We have lots of pics. so check them all out below. EXTERIOR: the paint at least looks like its the original Silver. and at leastyou can see for yourself. there are no previous repairs of bodywork done or hidden under the paint. The body is really pretty straight for its age. I thinkthe worst area was on the RR quarter area. I believe all the glass is fine. but Ido know that both rear 1/4 windows are not bolted in at the moment. They open and fall out at the moment so they are currently locked into place via wire. Almost all the surface rust is just that . surface rust ie patina. SUSPENSION: the suspension is basically all original and stock the best I can telland Im sure has some worn stuff there too. but dont see any areas of damage. EXCEPT the front sway bar I did see some urethane bushings on the sway bar. and itspossible the front sway bar is an aftermarket larger ADDCO unit. This car is Id guess to est be a 80% rust free Arizona carThe worst place I found rust. was the spare tire well in the trunk. Not muchdrainage there from the inside out. Again. please check out all the pics below. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these daysspeaks volumes. Also. if you buy a car thats been "restored". who knows what sortof surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs arefast. for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you knowexactly what you have in the end. Honestly. I think more sellers should post pics like we dobut buyer beware if they dont.
