1971 Mercury Cougar XR7

This rare 1971 Mercury Cougar XR-7 convertible is 1 of only 1. 17. with all matching numbers. a 351-Cleveland motor and C6 Automatic Transmission. Heavier body styling gave 1971 Cougars a more mature look when compared to earlier models. A boldly prominent center grille and newly exposed headlamps dominated the fresh frontal appearance. A GT appearance/handling option was revived for standard models. while extra-posh XR-7 models topped the line. This lovingly cared for car was in the same family since it was new. The carpet. seats. dashboard. door panels are all in good condition for being just shy of 45 years old. There are no cracks or tears. There are two missing bits of trim on the back window switches. The actual window switch is also missing on the back left although it still functions. One of the five switches is also missing on the drivers door. Both should be easy and cheap to replace and I am trying to source these parts now. The car has power disc brakes which stops the car safely at any speed. Other features include power steering. power windows. tilt wheel. power top. factory dual exhaust. and full gauges (fuel. temperature. tach. oil pressure and amps). all in working order. The car starts up easy. run smoothly. drives nicely. The convertible top has no rips or tears and has a glass back window. All in all the car was well maintained and not abused. Also included with the car is: • Steering column with key and original cougar steering wheel (found this in my grandfathers garage)• Original AM radio "The car has always been dependable. and never disappoints.
