Car description

I'm listing for my father his 1985 Mercedes 300D. He's been the same owner for 15 years and believed to be the 2nd owner as the previous owner claimed to be the original owner. Purchased in Feb. 2000 with 72k miles in Tampa. It now has 280k miles. He had the transmission rebuilt in April 2010 @ 231. 46 miles and has most records from his ownership. He had the car repainted about 8 years ago (due to fading) and it looks good from 5 feet but is evident that it's a repaint (overspray in places etc). After 8 years it has sustained several scratches and chips but like I said still looks good from 5 feet. There's a little spot of rust that has started to form on the Driver's rear wheel well. as pictured. At this point it can be taken care of with little effort before it spreads further. I believe it's from a dry/cracked antenna seal which he has a New Genuine replacement seal for and just hasn't replaced it yet. Interior is Palomino MB-Tex and is in good shape. some wear on driver seat bolster consistent with age and miles (springs are broken too and need repaired or replaced). The vinyl has also faded to the common term of "Pinkamino" that's been given this interior color but could probably be dyed back to original with little effort if the new owner wanted to. Only 1 tiny crack on dash near passenger side speaker. Wood trim is in really good original shape with minimal cracking. Carpets are in good shape with minimal staining and I gave him some nice newer OE floor mats that were not shown in pictures. A/C works good and was converted to R134-A a long time ago. all gauges work good including the odometer which has never quit on him but tach/clock doesn't. The picture of the back seat shows the first aid cover broken/missing but I sent him an intact unit a few months ago to replace it with but he probably hasn't replaced it yet. He told me all the windows work and the sunroof but I'm having him double check that. The car has served him well over the past 15 years and was his daily driver for 13+ years but he stopped driving it due to the driver door needing repair (loud creaks/pops when opening) and he was told it needed to go to a body shop for repair (the metal plate that connects to the check strap behind the door frame is loose/bent/or warped or something and the fender would have to come off to access it) and he doesn't want to mess with it. He got a newer vehicle and has an older truck too and needs to clear some room. The car will most likely need tires soon depending on the winner's driving intentions. The current tires (a matching set of Michelins) have good tread but are nearing 6 years old and have some cracks starting. There's no reason to go out and buy tires immediately due to this as they could still last another 1-2 years depending on driving intentions. These photos were taken on 12/31/2014 while I visited them at their home in Florida. I detailed the car while I was down there and took these photos for him. The mileage at the time these photos were taken was 280. 07 and he hasn't driven it much since then but does start it up and lets it run from time to time. He used this car to visit me in Middle Tennessee on several different occasions before getting a newer vehicle and it never left him stranded. If any interested party wishes to view the car in person or talk to my father please contact me through eBay messaging and I will send you my father's phone number. **FINE PRINT** This is a 30 year old car and in no way being described as a New car in any shape. way or form. It is however a well cared 30 year old car and is in above average condition to most seen on the road today. With this being said. the car is being sold AS-IS. where-is with NO warranty expressed or implied. My father holds a clean and clear Florida title which he will sign over to the winning buyer at time of pickup (this will have to be discussed between the winner and my father). The car is located in Newberry. Florida approximately 8 miles West of Gainesville zip code 32669. If shipping is needed my father is willing to assist in the pick-up by the carrier of your choice but ALL shipping expenses are to be paid by the buyer. Immediate deposit of $500. 00 is required via PayPal if the Buy-it-Now is used. otherwise the deposit is required within 24 hours. NO Exceptions!
