Car description

....

Please call Greg directly at 513-200-9226 with any questions about this car.

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL in excellent condition. It looks spectacular, runs well, and is a nice driver. The market on the 560SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Low mileage and original examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. 104,095 miles is low for a Mercedes from this era as they are built like tanks and can virtually run forever when properly maintained. The original mileage is also verified not only by the condition of the car, but also by the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as "Actual."

There are dozens and dozens of receipts and documents for service and maintenance over the years. The receipts are pictured in this ad and total over $13,700.

There is also a copy of the AutoCheck report in this ad. The report is totally clean, shows no accident history, and verifies the low mileage.

This Mercedes is verified as "numbers matching" meaning the engine in the car is the correct and original unit that was installed in the factory. It is especially rare, but this 560SL has the "vehicle data card" from the Mercedes factory, which is pictured in this ad. It shows the original engine number to be "117967 12 027338." We have checked the engine and confirmed that same engine number stamped on the left side of the engine block. All of the paint, interior, and convertible top codes are also correct and match the vehicle data card and the data tag by the radiator.

This 560SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Mercedes is finished in the absolutely beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Arctic White (147) over Burgundy interior (277) with a Black soft-top (740). This is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the vehicle data card. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information in this ad to get a true sense of clean and nice this 560SL really is.

The car comes with the books and manuals, which are pictured. Included with the car are the original owner's manual, maintenance booklet (with many service stamps over the years), Service and Warranty Information booklet, along with two convertible top wrenches, spare tire and rim, and jack, which are all pictured below.

As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the 560SL, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Arctic White (147) exterior is in excellent condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid Mercedes touch and feels like a vault door closing. The car exhibits great body panel fit overall. The chrome and other bright-work look very nice. The original alloy wheels are in great shape with a brilliant finish. The Continental tires have plenty tread left and are correctly sized 205/65R15. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would expect from a paint job with many years on it there are some very small blemishes around that are too tiny so show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Mercedes has no rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this 560SL is very clean underneath. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.

A sticker with this individual Mercedes VIN is present on all the body parts we checked, the hood, trunk, both doors, both front fenders, both rear fenders, and both the front and rear bumper. This is another excellent sign of originally, no accident history, and no paint work. We have seen no paint lines, over-spray or other signs of paintwork at all.

Interior

The Burgundy (277) interior of the 560SL looks absolutely fantastic. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or split seams. The carpet looks great with no stains, rips, or holes. All of the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. The original door panels look wonderful with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The Black (740) convertible soft-top is in good condition. The rear windows are clear with no yellowing and are not worn in the normal spot where the windows contact the top mechanism. The dash has been capped and looks great with no cracks or sun fading. The car now has a more modern radio with USB and auxiliary inputs. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks. The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the original spare tire, and rim, jack.

The excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low mileage.

Mechanical

This 560SL appears to be in good mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. As stated above, there are over $13,700 in receipts with the car for maintenance over the years. The engine starts right away every time. It is a nice driver that feels great on the road. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs great, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.

Please note in the video the dash warning lights all work properly; they light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is started. There are no "check engine" or other warning lights that stay on. The horn works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, turn signals, interior lights, indicators, dash gauges lights, wipers, power locks, and fan. The a/c works and blows cold. The air conditioning system has also been converted to the more modern r134a Freon, there is a receipt with the car for this service. This Mercedes has lots of power with the 5.6 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1988 560SL is in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. This car is a premium example; it is very original with all original body panels with the original VIN stickers and a clean AutoCheck history with no accidents. The market for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for the 560SL's and this would be a great example to own. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
