Car description

You are bidding on a 1972 Mercedes Benz 450SL roadster. This is a very early production car with the more desirable European bumpers and manual windows. locks. and seats. It was originally purchased before being available at American dealerships. I purchased this car last year from an estate. not aware of its fairly unusual features. I have decided to sell it because I have six other collector cars and will not have the space or time to restore this one. It was in the owner's garage and not driven for two or three years before his death. It was in need of cleaning and attention due to this. When I was getting it ready for the listing. I was tempted to keep it. Although there is some minor lower body rust. the car is very solid overall. The body is very straight. and the chrome is excellent. All glass is good. and the leather interior and carpets are presentable. The tires Show very little wear. and all five of the original alloy wheels are in good condition. The brakes and exhaust are good. The car has both the hardtop and soft top. I do not believe the previous owner ever used the soft top. It is much better than I expected. The only wear I noticed is a small spot on each side where the frame rubbed while it was folded. The original pouch with warranty and other manuals is included along with a CD of all owner and shop manuals. There is also a Haynes Manual with the car. The engine runs. but needs a major tuneup. It runs with excellent oil pressure and no smoke. but must be tuned to run properly. Overall. this car is an excellent candidate for an easy restoration. With little work. it can be driven and enjoyed. This car will certainly appreciate in value in years to come. as has been the case with another of our cars. Feel free to ask questions or to inspect the car if you wish. The winning bidder will pay a $200 deposit through Paypal or other agreed upon means within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The balance in cash or other agreed upon payment will be due when the car is picked up. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. and I will help to provide access and assistance when the car is picked up. If there are questions. you may also call (618)684-3707 or (618)559-7374
