Car description

1981 Mercedes-Benz

300TD Wagon

Exceptionally rare and highly sought after 1981 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagon. This W123 Turbodiesel Wagon combines the bulletproof reliability of the OM617 iron head engine with a powerful turbocharger. Only Mercedes diesels produced in 1981 to 1985 offered this extremely robust combination of reliability and performance.

Very low mileage of only 182,185 and always maintained, this wagon starts immediately with the turn of the key without any hesitation or smoke. The 3.0L Inline 5 cylinder Turbodiesel engine produces excellent power, and the transmission shifts are precise and timely. This wagon drives smoothly down the road and the four wheel disk brakes are fitted with new pads and sensors and grip evenly all the way around. This wagon has just been serviced, where it received a fresh oil and filter change and new primary and secondary fuel filters.

Once inside, you will find that this wagon is equipped with very rare factory third-row, three-point seatbelts. All of the windows work, except for the passenger side window switch. There is a rock crack in the lower left of the windshield, but this has not spread further. The large, manual sunroof opens, closes and seals as it should. The A/C was converted to R134a and blows cold. The heat, cool, fan and defrost settings on the climate control function correctly. All locks work as they should, including the central locking. The interior smells clean and there are no unpleasant odors, including of smoke. Comes complete with the original manuals and maintenance booklets.

The body is typical of a vehicle of this vintage that has seen some seasonal weather. There is some corrosion, mainly found by the wheel arches and around the lower parts of the doors (Please refer to the more than 60 pictures of the wagon below). The underbody is clean, and the rear floorboards have been reinforced in areas of weakness. The door jams are clean and rust-free, as are the rocker panels and areas around the jack points.

When bidding on this vehicle, please understand that it is a pre-owned vintage car and is not new, or in untouched, museum quality condition. This wagon is ideal for someone who wants to enjoy the experience of the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300TDT, but who isn't afraid to strap surfboards to the roof, get some sand and dirt on it, and use it as designed. This very rare Mercedes-Benz W123 Turbodiesel Wagon represents an exceptional investment; because of its general scarcity and desirability, experts agree that these W123 Turbodiesel Wagons are sure to significantly appreciate in value in the coming years.
