Car description

1993 Mercedes Benz 300CE Cabrio

99K

This is one of the last of the "overbuilt" Mercedes cars and frankly one of my favorite convertibles in the modern era. These cars were very pricy when new and therefore not many were produced nor imported into the US. In 1993, they increased the engine size to 3.2L and horsepower increased to 217hp. Not rocketship fast, but peppy enough to get you whereyou want to go. The W124 chassis that this is based, is one that is very solid feeling, sturdy and overall reliable cars that you can enjoy for years. This example is similar.

This convertible is special in that it has a REAL AMG body kit on it, putting larger front spoiler and rear bumper covers. Also included are real AMG wheels that complete the look. I like the added spoilers and wheels as it gives it a more sporty look. The exhaust is also slightly tuned to give it a louder grumble to match the body work. I think these cars are just at the starting point of real significant increases in value over time as the style is still elegant even though it is 25 years old.

So, this example has relatively low miles at 99k. I had been owned by the previous owner until he passed away. It was maintained well until he became ill and was parked several years under a carport. We have (make that the Mercedes repair shopI use)gone through the car and got the top operational, replaced all fluids and filters, and got it running and driving nice. It is not perfect, but something that you can buy and enjoy as it is or do the minor restoration that would put it over the top. I do not do restorations, so selling as you see it. Top is operational, a/c works, heat, and does all power windows, locks, cruise, radio (cover panel was removed in the pictures, but we do have it). runs and drives straight, stops, shifts, etc all as you would expect. Leather is in tact and shows limited signs of wear.

There are a few flaws, so I will list what you can see in the pictures or not.See pictures for the paint blemishes. There is a minor surface rust blemish on the drivers door, passenger fender, and rear passenger tail light. All are in the pictures. The AMG front spoiler has two minor cracks as shown in the picture plus some paint chipping as shown. Note, the front bumper cover is installed, however could stand an hour or of a body person to get the fit tighter to the body. The rear trunk lid looks like it was exposed to the elements and the clear is peeling. Inside, the wood has some cracks as seen in the picture. Tach is not operational, but everything else appears to be in good working order.

Not pictured, but original books, window sticker, first aid kit, and some maintenance records are present. Though I have tried to give a full and accurate description of the car, please be aware it is 25 years old and sometimes things that are operational now could break in the future.Because of this, it is being sold AS-IS. I welcome inspections as well as international buyers. Please call directly with questions or offers, 812-760-8220.
