I am proud to present this beautiful 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Roadster. It was recently acquired by my 83-year old collector friend & client who is unable to enjoy the car due to health. The car has been here in the Dallas, Texas area its entire life. He purchased the car through word of mouth & diligence from a gentleman & his wife who have owned & maintained this Mercedes since 1972. The drivetrain is original and runs beautifully, equipped with the Bosch fuel injection system & paired with the 4-speed automatic transmission. The mileage of 68,885 is correct to the car and it shows.

The exterior showcases original body panels front to back with one repaint of the original special Moss Green (834G) paint. Great care was taken to see that the repaint was correct in a color match. The original paint was left in the door jambs and underhood jambs, in great shape still. The paint and body show exceptionally well, although there are a few flaws to note. This is a car that can be driven anywhere with confidence. It is absolutely tight and a joy on the road, the tires were just replaced. The car has been kept up mechanically & cosmetically.

The Frigiking unit will power up and blow, all intact. The owner is in process of checking it for leaks, etc. It is being sold as "in-op" for now.


The interior is in excellent condition throughout. The dash displays functional original gauges including the speedometer, odometer, tachometer & fuel gauge. The dash leather is in beautiful condition. The seat upholstery is just stunning, the previous owner kept the car's seats under wool covers since early ownership.

The black factory soft top shows as new, seldom used and tight fitting.

The Moss Green Pagoda hardtop is in beautiful condition inside & out.

The engine compartment is maintained & in excellent condition. The original paint & firewall insulation is intact. This is the original 2.8 litre powerplant rated at approximately 180 horsepower & paired with the 4-speed automatic transmission. This car has plenty of power and drives just wonderfully. I enjoyed driving it along with my client. Be sure to play our special video road test & tour of this car.


Note the original identification plate & decals along with oil change decals over the years.

The trunk displays a full spare wheel/tire & jacking equipment along with the factory tool kit.

The flooring, rockers & pans are in excellent condition.


The undercarriage displays original flooring and trunk metal, rocker panels, inner quarters, etc. Again, this is an exceptionally solid Texas car. There is a quarter sized rust bubble on the lower driver's side fender photographed below. There are also a few minor PDR fixabled "dings" on close inspection, 3 or 4 in total on this exceptionally straight car. There is a missing piece of lower trim on the driver's side front fender as well, see photos.
