Car description

We are selling our beloved 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL. This is just an awesome car, but we are ready to pass it on to the next classic car enthusiast owner. We live in downtown Boston and aren't able to enjoy driving it enough.
I am the third owner of this car and have owned it since Fall 2013. It was been garaged as long as we have owned it and it was garaged by the previous two owners, also. It originally came from East Hampton, NY and was owned by a retired couple. They sold it to another retired man in Fire Island, NY, who owned it for less than a year before selling it to me. It's a pleasure to drive; it's wonderful on a nice, sunny day. It's comfortable and the engine has a smooth but solid vintage-car sound. The car has a removable hardtop with a stand (the stand can fit in the backseat of the car) and also a mount that you can use to lift it in your garage.
The car is in great condition. It drives straight and solid. No shaking at highway speeds or during braking. I have maintained it with a Mercedes specialist mechanic since purchasing it. The car is mechanically excellent; I replaced the exhaust last year, which had rusted out over time. I will include my service records with the car, and I have not deferred any recommended maintenance. The air conditioning works well. The top is in good shape; the rubber seals on the top are aged and show slight rot in a few places as you would expect for a 30-year old top, but it doesn't need to be replaced. It's perfectly functional and the cloth is in great shape.
Visually, the car is very good. There are very minor scratches in a few spots, but overall the paint is excellent and the body is straight. There aren't really any dings in the body, just a few scuffs in the chrome and a minor blemish in the paint. I have attached a photo of one ding in the chrome bumper.
I have also just bought new floor mats (pictured separately; the floor mats in the photos of the car are original), which will be included with the car. The seats are in great shape. They don't really show any signs of wear.
A few very minor things to be aware of:1. The cruise control is disconnected and does not work.2. The radio works (I replaced the original speakers last year with new some basic speakers) but the cassette deck does not work.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. The car is located in Westport, MA but I can move it to either Weston, MA or downtown Boston, MA if you would prefer to pick it up there. I am also happy to work with the buyer on having the car shipped, as long as the buyer deposits the remaining required funds with me before the car boards a truck. All risk and cost associated with shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
