Car description

This is a 1970 Mercedes Benz 280se with the M130 6-cylinder engine. The W108 chassis Benzes represent the last of the truly handbuilt Mercedes and are currently a seriously attractive value proposition in today's classic car market. This particular example is a lifelong California car with documentation to prove it. It was owned by one family from new until I purchased it just over a year ago. Between the previous owner and I, there has been well over 20k in service done to the vehicle since the early 2000s, all verified with receipts.
Since taking ownership of the car I've invested a significant amount of time and money in the mechanical restoration of the car and this is one of the best-sorted 6-cylinder W108s available for sale. All service has been performed by L&M Motors here in Los Angeles, a renowned MBZ shop that has been in continuous operation since the early 1960s.
Work performed includes:New cylinder head and ancilliaries(these have a tendency to corrode internally as a result of coolant acidification)New pulleysNew hosesNew cooling fan relayNew fan shroudFully refurbished radiator, thermostat housing, and injection pump controls.New ignition components (cap, rotor, points, plugs, wires)New air, oil, and fuel filtersValves adjusted less than 5k miles ago
and much, much more.
The body has had one repaint, the quality is acceptable for a driver. Small dings and dents and a few cracks in the paint near the rear end (my guess is due to improper prep) but no rust. Interior is in excellent condition with beautiful seats and headliner. All gauges are fully functional and the heater controls have been refurbished as well (no unsightly cheap replacements).
Air conditioning is present, but currently non-functional. Likely needs a recharge with R12 but ventilation is so good that I haven't made this a priority.
Car has a brand new windshield seal from Mercedes Benz (not cheap Turkish replacements) that is ready to install.
The car starts quickly and easily in all weather, drives beautifully and shifts cleanly like a 4-speed MBZ auto should. This is an incredible driver that could be pushed to show-quality with some paint and body work.
New job forces sale. If you have any questions, please ask.
Thanks!
