HISTORY: This lovely Mercedes-Benz 300SD, diesel, was sold new in Texas where it led an easy life and was maintained by the local dealer. The service stamps in the factory supplied booklet show the last service done there at 91,100 miles. The car came to southern California and was taken care of by a fastidious owner who carried out all service and maintenance as required by the book. The elderly gentlemen hardly drove the car that was garage kept. Although customer cannot guarantee the mileage on a car that old, hecan confirm that all the telltale signs concur with the low mileage, e.g. the minimal wear on the pedals and the tight driver’s door latch. Also, the underneath of the car still has the factory coating in good condition. The car has excellent body gaps and shut lines all around. It is one of the nicest out there.

Customer bought the car in 2014 and started renovating it to give to hisson who will be attending the university next year. After the work was done, he disclosed his aversion to white cars, hence this sale!

This model known as W126 type, was the replacement for the successful W116; voted car of the year in Europe when launched in 1972. Aware of the need to reduce consumption and offer environmentally friendly cars, Mercedes-Benz embarked on a major effort to make the W126 a technological leap over the W116. The body is made of steel with some aluminum panels like the hood and trunk as well as other internal structural components. This new model underwent extensive testing in the wind tunnel and achieved a remarkable low drag coefficient cd: 0.36. As a result, the fuel consumption improved considerably and the 300SD is rated at a surprising 27 mpg. If driven carefully on the freeway they have been known to get 30 mpg. This, in a car that cossets its occupants in luxury and protects them in a patented safety cell.

The W126 has been a great commercial success for Mercedes-Benz; they are known in the industry as the last hand-built Mercedes models.

DESCRIPTION: This Mercedes looks, drives and smells like it just left the dealer showroom floor. The engine has surprisingly a lot of power and does not smoke on start-up at all. The accelerations in all gears are strong and everyone is stunned how powerful this turbo-charged 5-cyl is. The automatic transmission is crisp but not jerky and shifts at precisely the right shift-points in acceleration or deceleration. The differential is perfectly quiet and you will not hear any noise from it at any speed.

The brakes stop the car on a dime and do not pull; very safe indeed. The car tracks like an arrow courtesy of the four-wheel alignment it received 30 miles ago. The handling is enhanced by the new radial tires, size: 205 X 70 14.

All electricals work as they should, the heater blows hot and the A/C cold.

The genuine Bosch European headlights were $1000 new and as the pictures show, make a noticeable improvement to the looks of the car.

The car comes with all its factory issued books, service booklet and manuals. It also has in the trunk, the spare, tool kit, jack and wrench. In the rear shelf compartment is the unused Mercedes first-aid kit.

There is nothing to do to this car except drive and enjoy the reliability and safety it offers.

An ideal transportation for anyone looking for the values and attributes expected from Mercedes at a fraction of the new models prices.

No smog required in California. Low insurance cost and DMV annual registration is less than $100.
