Car description

.
Up is one of the "Banker's Hot Rods", the famous 6.9 450 SEL from Mercedes Benz. These are cars were well known for being the sleeper Autobahn cruise missile. Well over 150mph and were quite quick as well. Owning one of these has been on my bucket list since I was a teenager, and I purchased this last year as a great example to put a more modern spin on it. Well those plans got put on the back burner as my business kept growing.
Overall this is a PROJECT, though I think (and I am not a mechanic) with just a little time could be a driver until a full restoration (or something else) can be done. This car was running and driving and was until I moved it out of storage earlier this year. After parking it, came out the next day to have it not start (more specifically, no cranking at all, like battery was dead), after putting a charger on the battery, it was charged, still no crank, so I assume it is a connection between the starter and battery or the starter itself. Then life has gotten in the way for the past 6 months. I am selling it as it sits.
Look over the pictures and you will notice that it has some surface rust on the roof, drivers side rear quarter panel, as well as a few other spots. Jack points on drivers side are weak, front being the worst. Other 3 are developing rust. Rocker panels are developing rust, but floors appear good. I will attach a link to additional pictures.
Interior is overall good, though the seats are dry and torn. Rear package tray needs replacement cloth. Dash as the expected cracks, but the wood is in good shape. Door panels are also good.
Engine is the dry sump 6.9L and it was running good, no smoke or other issues other than an occasional hard hot start. Window regulators are working, though weak, a/c blows but not cold, and sunroof works. The suspension has been replaced with conventional set up rather than the factory hydraulic. It is leaking some oil from dry sump system after sitting. Odometer is showing 1001XX miles which could be original, but due to the age of the vehicle is being sold as exempt.
It would make a great candidate for restoration or for parts. These cars are starting to rapidly increase in value.
Includes original owners manual and warranty cards/tag. Ownership history shows California and South Dakota for much of its life.
I hate to sell it, but my mechanic is retiring and not taking on new projects. Car is sold AS-IS WHERE IS all faults known or unknown, though I have attempted to give you the full detail of all I know on the vehicle. All sales subject to $149 dealer fee, which is also your non-refundable deposit. International sales are welcome, but car must be picked up within 14 days as I am vacating my location before the end of the month.
