1960 MERCEDES BENZ 190SL ROADSTERVery strong # 2 vehicle. Recent $65. 00 cosmetic and partial mechanical restoration completed by Bob Platz' Precision Auto Works (a recognized 190SL specialist). All receipts are available for inspection. I have full documentation of the work performed. and a clear NJ vehicle title is in my hands. Stated mileage is as reflected on the car's odometer. The actual total vehicle mileage is thought to be 105. 72 miles. Only a few small things remain to be completed. This is a very solid original car. and one of the few that is still wearing its Mercedes Benz lacquer paint. New trunk rubber sealMinor dent repairs and body work as necessary (new metal only) Prior to the current restoration efforts the cylinder head of this engine was removed and completely rebuilt/restored by Metric Motors of Canoga Park. CA. There are approximately 3000 miles on the restored cylinder head. At that time the engine also received a new timing chain. chain tensioner. chain guides. and fuel pump. The fuel tank was removed. professionally cleaned and sealed. with a new sump drain plug and fuel pickup screen. The car also received four new Bilstein shock absorbers. 6 new wheel cylinders. 4 new flex brake lines. and the brake booster was cleaned and serviced. This car starts easily. runs very well. stops straight. and does not pull. It shifts smoothly. and pulls through all gears as one would expect of a car it this level. I have a complete windshield washer system and bracket for this car. It will be installed in the near future. I will also be cleaning the shop dust off the engine compartment as soon as time permits. The tires are new Coker WWW radials with less than 50 miles on the set. The spare tire is also new. and has never been driven on. This is one of the finest 190SL cars available today. and in the most sought after color combination. These are the original colors IAW the car's data plates & Mercedes Benz factory build sheet. The photos show the fit & finish of all components quite well. and demonstrate that all door and panel gaps are correct. I have more than $64K in restoration receipts. as well as most receipts for parts and other work performed during my 10 year ownership. I have maintained an extensive binder for this car containing my receipts. a copy of the Daimler Benz build sheet. as provided by the MB Classic Center. as well as the previous owners information. The photos show the car as it is today (2 January 2015). I have hundreds of photos of this car before. during. and after this fresh restoration. The car will include a complete tool kit and tool roll. The car currently has a 123 distributor installed. The 123 distributor is an electronic ignition model designed specifically for the MB 190SL. The original Bosch VJR 4 BR24 distributor will be included in this sale at the asking price. This car was just returned from the shop in late December. and has not been driven since the restoration was completed. It has always been stored in my heated and cooled garage. and never exposed to bad weather. This 190SL has been properly maintained with regular twice annual oil changes. maintenance. and tuneup service. The car is ready to be driven anywhere.
