MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this iconic 1986 560SL. Boasting a clean CarFax, this three owner example was purchased new by the original owner, at Park Plaza Motors Mercedes Benz in Dallas Texas. Recent service includes flushing brake system, steering box adjustment, relay work, new shifter bushing and updated the air conditioning to R134.

The Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster (formerly known as the SL Roadster prior to 1994) is a grand touring roadster manufactured by Mercedes since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German Sportlich-Leicht, (Sport Lightweight) and was first applied to the 300 SL. The 560 SL was only sold in the USA, Canada, Japan, and Australia to compensate the reduced output of the 5.0-litres due to the stricter emission laws in these markets. All updated 86–89 models have the advantages of the more modern 4 pot brakes, larger discs, and suspension derived from the W124 sedan. The body itself is built with a modern paint system designed to improve protection from rust.

Finished in beautiful Cabernet red metallic (code 587) the exterior finish appears to be original and shows well with only minor imperfections and slight fading visible upon close inspection. The Cabernet red hard top has a an excellent fit and finish. Front bumper has a good fit, with slight finish issue on the drivers side, the rear bumper has a excellent fit and finish that shows well. The dark tobacco soft top (code 746) fits tight with no fading or scratching in the back window that we could find. All trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish with only minor signs of age and use. The weather stripping is still very pliable with very little shrinkage or drying. The U.S. spec headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks. The 15 inch original equipment wheels show well with no damage or curb rash.

Inside, the rich Mushroom leather (code 275) seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. Excellent matching carpet throughout the interior. Overall the wood grain trim bits look great especially considering they are almost 30 years old, there is some finish lifting on the dash top by the windshield. The door panels and dashboard also present well with only minimal wear. The headliner mirrors the rest of the cabin and completes the theme. The original steering wheel in great condition. Also included, cruise control, anti-theft warning system, automatic climate control, paintcoat preservation, power windows, power locks, first aid kit, sealed in plastic tool kit, hard top removal tool and Becker Gran Prix AM/FM radio. Included (In route from the previous owner) are the original owners manual and service books.

This nicely represented Mercedes features a 5.6 liter 227 hp eight-cylinder engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, limited slip differential. Chrome 15 inch original Mercedes alloys with sport radial tires.

Rarely will you get the opportunity to acquire an original low mileage extremely well cared for dry climate 560SL like this. Ideal for cross-town or cross-country trips, this 560SL is the way it’s suppose to be…luxurious exterior with the heart of German motorsports. GET OUT AND DRIVE!

Current mileage on the odometer shows 45,476 believed to be actual. The car is being sold as is on a clean & clear title.
