Car description

Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken of the car, n sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, n order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this extremely rare and unrestored mostly all original survivor, apart from one repaint in its original factory 'Silver Gray Metallic' (MB code 180) color paint, f a very desirable original W111-024 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 2.8L fuel injection Coupe with it's original engine, are factory air conditioning and its original owner's Protecto-Plate and service booklet! The W111 series was a chassis code given to Mercedes-Benz top of the range vehicles produced from 1959-71. The W111-024 280 series, ith the 280 SE line being Mercedes-Benz' most prestigious car of the series and these luxurious models were the last of the hand built Mercedes with very few cars per week rolling off the production line for the entire series! The 280 series were built between 1968-71 with only 3,797 coupes and 1,390 cabriolets being built over the entire production run. The 2,778 cc M130 engine produced 160 bhp and with a top speed of 120mph. Inside, he car received a wood veneer option on the dashboard and air conditioning was a factory option. Only 3,797 Coupe's were built in these years of production yet unfortunately due to the high demand and prices of the cabriolets, any of these coupes have been unceremoniously chopped into bogus convertibles over the years making an original factory coupe now very rare. This is one of the original factory coupes built and apart from one repaint in its original color, t is in completely original condition throughout! The combination of superb performance and elegant styling makes the 280 SE Coupe a very highly collectible and desirable car amongst classic car collectors and this is obviously especially true for Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. This was a very low production, uxurious hand built car by legendary German craftsmen for its day, with very few all original stock examples remaining from the short three years of production (1968-71). The original factory 'Silver Gray Metallic' color older repaint in still in very good condition with a painted 'Dark Red' pin stripe to match the original 'Dark Red' leather interior. The original leather interior is in quite remarkable condition for an all original example. The wood veneer, eather seats, carpets and gauges are all in a virtual time warp, aving always been obviously garaged, here is no signs of any damage from the elements. The original factory radio, ower windows, ower steering and original factory air conditioning are all working and the car is the perfect daily driver for the enthusiast or with a little TLC, this very honest and unrestored and always garaged and completely rust and accident free example would prove the perfect candidate to fully restore and prove a worthy classic addition to any collection. Carrying a whopping MSRP of over $10K over forty-five years ago, t should come as no surprise that this placed the 280SE series squarely in Rolls Royce territory, ith only those who could afford the best and who were fortunate if they could even obtain one from their local Mercedes Benz dealer, uch was the exclusivity and demand of this amazing motorcar. Generously applied chrome fittings, ombined with the finest natural materials available, provide an unmatched ambiance of luxury and wealth in its lavishly appointed interior, here fine ROSER leather, xquisite burl wood and chrome plated fittings abound, he standard of craftsmanship apparent everywhere on this car is nothing short of astonishing on these hand-built Mercedes luxury cars. This particular car still boasts it's completely original interior including original radio, riginal steering wheel, riginal leather and wood and original factory air conditioning and still boasting its original headliner, t must drive virtually as well as the day it left the showroom floor over forty-five years ago! This car must be seen to be believed and driven to be fully appreciated - the engine is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no noticeable oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. In summary, his must be one of the finest, o say nothing of one of the rarest example's left available of an all original and unmolested 1969 Mercedes Benz 280 SE Coupe with no history of any rust and no accidents; a prime candidate for an easy concourse restoration for the Mercedes enthusiast or simply a fine turn key ready daily driver to enjoy today! For further information contact West Coast Classics through EBay or on 310-399-3990 during regular California business hours.
