Car description

This auction is for one 1990 Mazda Miata, red with a black cloth interior.
This car has under 120k original miles on it. A rare first year automatic transmission model (believe me, its better than a manual in moderntraffic patterns), with working power windows, working air conditioning, and working cruise control. Power steering and power brakes.
I'm apparently the 3rd owner, and I have the the ownership records.
The body is in good to fair condition, dents, dings, fading bumpers, I've tried to photo the larger dings, but there is no rust to speak of (mild surface rust on suspension components).
I refurbished a set of early Miata steel rims for an older British car look, and they came out well, see photos.
Interior is in very good condition, no cracks or rips in door panels, or dashboard, no rips in seats, carpets appear new (had OEM mats, currently has aftermarket mats), new OEM tombstone, new OEM NOS shifter console (part that indicates transmission selection such as Drive, Reverse, etc.) (these 2 newer items may not be shown in the photos, but are installed in the car), and the harmonic balancer / lower belt pulley is not wobbling (I mention this here as some early cars have this issue).
New mechanical components (I have receipts from professional repairers / dealers) include the following over the last 5k to 20k miles, however some repairs were done years ago:
Timing beltWater pumpThermostatValve cover gasket (head cover gasket)AlternatorDrivers side power window motor & regulatorDriver side mirrorPower windows switchesAutomatic trans shifter bushingsParts of the AC system2 new door speakersAll lug nuts are newNewer windshieldFront and rear brakes (approx 12k miles), I have new hoses but these were apparently in good condition, so repairer (Monroe Muffler) didn't change these out.Transmission serviced about 10k miles ago.New driver and passenger seat belt receivers.
Car also has an alarm system (I put an off switch on the alarm horn for my neighborhood).
Folding top is in good shape, plastic window has fair visibility.
Exhaust system is newer from the middle section to the back, so new resonator, muffler, and tailpipe.
Car could use front and rear shocks and possibly springs, currently has a hard but responsive ride.
Underside is in generally good condition, some mild surface rust on suspension components and body pan. See photos note these were taken BEFORE back section of exhaust was replaced), or email me over eBay if this is important to you, and I'll try to add photos of the underside.
Comes with original owners manual and I should be able to give you most receipts, plus receipts that came with car for the work listed herein.
Other items / caveats are:Newer working cigar lighterWorking window washer pump and newer jetsNewer battery (8k miles)Older but good tires (6 yrs + but no cracks, good tread)Mild fading to a dark blue color on rear deck under convertible topNewer CD, USB, MP3, Blue Tooth, AM/FM Radio player (Boss model 508UAB, 200 watts).
Original oil pressure sender usually works - seems ambient temperature sensitive to extreme cold or hot weather.
Shudder from a mechanical resonance when stopped or at very slow speed and when turning wheels makes a noise, but doesn't affect steering.
Engine idle is adjusted higher for better performance of AC.
One wheel shimmies at circa 68 MPH, I usually simply drive above or below this. Better balance weights should cure this.
Will come with Moss Miata radiator and cooling hose kit, but the hoses and belts that are currently on the car are in good condition.
Transmission serviced within last 1000 miles, however first gear has a bit of a kick to it from cold standing start.
Newer shorty antenna.
Car has usually been garaged last 3 + years, had been outside but under a carport for much of its life.
There is a 0.4 amp draw, likely from the alarm system, I usually disconnect battery if I don't drive it over a week.
I was doing a running restoration of this car, but I have decided to sell it since I may be relocating.
Car is located in Greenwich, CT or Deposit, NY (currently in Deposit, but I can drive it to Greenwich, CT).
If you can, please come and see the car before bidding. Just email me here to arrange a time.
