Details About This 1990 Mazda Miata Convertible

We purchased our Miata from a "car person" who worked and wrote for Car and Driver at the time.  It has been consistently garaged during our fifteen years of enjoyment.  The car has been incredibly reliable and has had all regularly scheduled maintenance performed at a shop that works exclusively on Mazdas.  The last time the car was in for a regularly scheduled service, he mechanic said, the entire car is in remarkably good condition". The car has never been smoked in on our watch.

No Accidents On Our Watch

The prior owner was involved in and disclosed a minor accident involving the rear end of the car.  Obviously, e care about the condition of our cars.  We would not have bought the car if we thought it had issues.  The car has performed as expected from the day we purchased it.

New Glass Front & Rear

The car drives well and can still induce smiles.  When we replaced the convertible top, e opted to upgrade to a glass rear window, hich greatly improves visibility and reduces interior noise.  The glass rear window gives the car a "hardtop" feel when you drive it.  There was nothing wrong with the convertible top we had on the car; we wanted to upgrade to a glass window.  The top was replaced by a well-respected shop in Atlanta.  If memory serves correctly, he top was roughly $600 installed; it was worth every penny.  We also had the windshield replaced.  Nothing was wrong with the old windshield; the replacement simply improves visibility and makes the car feel much newer.  The windshield has been on the road for just 6,000 miles.  It cost $241.50 and was worth every penny. Therefore, he car has excellent glass all the way around.

High Quality Rubber

The tires have significant tread and less than 6,000 miles on them (see photos). The set of Michelin Pilots are a substantial upgrade over middle of the road tires.  Handling improved noticeably after the Michelins were balanced, ounted, nd installed. A new set installed would run over $400. They are Michelin Exalto A/S; the Tire Rack describes them as follows:

Air & Cruise

The A/C blows cold (no problems in Atlanta this summer). The power windows, ruise control, nd radio work fine.

Wear And Tear

Is the car perfect? No, ou should also expect normal wear & tear for a car of this age and mileage (stone chips, ome small dings, ouch up paint, tc). It has a factory CD player that likes to eject CDs rather than play them.  Miatas regularly experience some hood rattle later in life; ours is no exception.  A bit of tape on the hood latch works just fine (no rattles).  While the original factory radio works fine, he station buttons show normal wear.   The paint on the car is very good. As you might expect, he front end and hood show the most wear and it is probably fair to classify the paint there as good to very good.  The outside mirrors also show expected/common wear and tear for a Miata of this model year and mileage.

Fun To Drive

The driving experience is satisfying.  The car is aligned well and tracks straight. We rarely used the cruise control; when we did it worked fine.  The top is in excellent condition; it has never been run through a car wash, or have we used any harsh cleaners. The leather steering wheel still looks good, howing some normal wear.  The stick shift has nice short throws and we have had no problems with the clutch. Brakes have been working well. The factory carpets are in very good condition.  We have the factory mats; you can see the passenger side mat in the photos (looks very good). The driver's side mat is also in good shape, ut as you might expect has normal wear. There are no photos of the inside of the trunk; it is clean like the rest of the car and has the spare tire and jack.

Why Are We Selling This Well-Maintained Miata?

We currently have two BMW convertibles and may be looking to add a Porsche Boxster or 911 to the stable soon.  It is time to pass this Miata torch from one car person to another.  Our hope is that the car will be well-cared for and continue to induce smiles for years to come.

No Warranty

We have made a good effort to disclose all relevant and known defects.  The car is being sold "as is" and "where is".  There is no warranty of any kind (stated or implied).

A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's end.  The balance (full payment) is due within seven calendar days from the end of the auction. Paypal is the preferred method for making the deposit.  A certified and verifiable check (Cashier's Check [certified from US bank] or money order) is required for the final payment.  We will verify the check's authenticity.   We have the title; it will not be signed over to the new owner until payment has cleared.  The new owner will be given a bill of sale.
