Car description

1967 Maserati Quattroporte Tipo 107. One of approximately 760 hand built cars produced between 1963 and 1969. Designed by Pietro Frua and bodied by Vignale in Turin. These cars have become increasingly scarce, as hundreds have been scrapped or used for 450S replicas.
This particular car was completed in March of 1967 and delivered to an Italian buyer. At some point in the 1970s it was imported into the USA. It was last registered in Louisiana in 1976 before being parked and its cylinder heads removed for some reason (likely head gasket or head rebuild). Current odometer reading is 78,168 km. The engine is missing its intake manifold and carburetors, but the air cleaner assembly is included. The engine probably needs a rebuild from sitting for 40+ years, but most rebuild parts such as pistons, cylinder liners, and bearings are readily available from MIE.
All numbers match between frame, engine, and VIN plate. The Vignale body number is 415, meaning it was approximately the 415th Quattroporte made. Maserati Classiche documentation is included for the car. The car was delivered in black over tan leather with Borrani Disc wheels. The engine is the original 4.2L DOHC aluminum V8, with a ZF S5/20 5-Speed gearbox. The factory air conditioning includes a massive compressor at the front of the engine bay. The paint on the car is probably not original and looks like a poor quality respray. The underbody looks coated as well, which likely helped keep rust at bay. The brakes were seized at one wheel when the car was unearthed and have been disabled for transport.
While this car requires restoration, it appears to be very original and unmolested. It still retains its Italian registration plates and has been untouched for over 40 years. The car does have surface rust in some areas, but there appears to be a lot of "meat on the bone" to allow for a straightforward restoration. QPIs often rust badly at the sills, but they appear solid on this car. The interior is a bit crusty, with dry leather and wood, and corrosion on metal pieces. The Smiths gauges look perfectly restorable, and the many switches on the dash have a solid feel. The steering wheel turns smoothly. A number of keys are included with the car, for ignition, doors, gas caps, etc.
Found in the trunk of this vehicle are the distributor with cap & wires, various cylinder head parts and hardware, and the air cleaner assembly. The spare tire in the trunk appears to have a full size Borrani Disc wheel. The car includes Maserati Classiche paperwork and a copy of the old title (dated 1977). The vehicle is sold with a clear & open Louisiana title obtained in 2017.
