Car description

1973 Lotus Europa Twin Cam John Player Special (JPS)
About John Player Special:The JPS was a limited edition for Lotus to celebrate their 1972 World Championship title. All JPS's were painted black with gold pinstrips and included factory alloy wheels and a 5-speed transaxle. Also with the JPS the sill panels on the vehicle were painted either gold or silver metalflake paint. There were 200 JPS's which were to believe to be built.
Car History:This car was originally sold in California and was registered with the 208 KEA (Blue/Yellow) California licenseplate which comes with the car. Also there are early records which the originalowner kept of mileage, oil changes, and gasoline purchased. These records were kept until the second owner purchased the car after 18,947 miles. The car currently has 39,669 miles on it which are to be believed as original. The car was restored back in 2006/2007 in England where it was later brought back over to the US. It is unknown how many miles the car had when it went though its restoration. Car was built in Febuary of 1973. The cars VIN number is 73023131R. This car has the JPS badge number "Special 105" located on the dashboard. There is also a JPS sew on patch that has been with the car. Also with the car is the original owners manual and handbook.
Condition:This car runs and drives great. This is a well sorted car and can be used as a reliable driver. Most restored cars are known to have issues which never get sorted when switching hands. This example has been gone through thoroughly and when you drive it you will notice it. The car has AVON tires which are street legal and very sticky! These tires were purchased about 2 years ago and still are soft and have plenty of tread left on them. The front tires are 175/70R13 and rear tires are 185/70R13. Tires and wheels have very good clearance in the wheel wells even with two adult passengers. Car sits lows and stiff and never has rubbing issues. All the lights and turn signals work. The speedometer acts a little jumpy but at higher speeds it settles down (I do have videos of this in action if you are curious). Shows great oil pressure and temperature always reading good. The tachometer also works and the ignition has been replaced with electronic ignitionfor reliability. The engine does have headers on it with an aftermarket great sounding Flowmaster muffler/exhaust. The suspension has a great feel to it and has SPAX rear shocks and AVO front shocks. The frame looks great and no rust in sight, looks like that it has been completely stripped and painter/powder coated during its restoration. The radiator looks to be in great shape and the coolant lines from the front to rear of car have been replaced with stainless steel ones (to avoid future internal rust issues). The alternator pulley has been replaced with an aluminum one as well. Both fuel tanks look to be in good condition and no signs of damage.
The engine and gearbox both operate very smoothly. The engine does have a Weber head and has dual Dellorto carburetors on it. Even though I do not have any engine build specifications, it is very smooth, has plenty of power, runs clean and smoke free.
Underneaththe car does not show any damage to any pieces and the body looks very solid. The body has might scratchs in the paint and one area on the left rear quarter panel which shows signs of age. It is a fiberglass body so paint defects are known to be an issue down the road. The black paint on this car is very good and has done well since its restoration as being a driving car. The hood and decklid have a few rubbing marks in the paint but again very typical of a Lotus or fiberglass bodied car. All doors do open and close freely and lock as well.
The interior is in good condition, no rips in the seats and the dashpad and center console is in great condition. The seats are actually beige leather (not vinyl).

Ebay only allows me to post 24 pictures but I do have many additional pictures and videos which I can share. Please contact me and I will send you the link. I encourage potential buyers to come by and look at the car before purchasing. The car is located in Landrum, SC.
