Car description

If you are looking for a Continental Convertible with the suicide doors this is one of the most well-sorted examples you will find.

I have put significant investment into this car to make it run and operate well. It’s a joy to drive and a big head-turner and has a fantastic after market stereo with components hidden in the glove box and ashtray. Get ready for some spring and summer fun!

The best news if you are looking for one of these is what I have done to really refresh and renew this car.I have fully sorted the convertible top (works exactly as designed!) and fully sorted the windows and auto-drop feature. If you know these cars you know that’s a HUGE area of concern that you will not have to worry about!

Car has a CLEAR TITLE in my possession.

Here’s the full list:

SUSPENSION – NEW Leaf Springs/bushings, Front End Kit, 4 Shocks - Front/Rear

CONVERTIBLE TOP: New relays (rebuilt original) and fully sorted all switches (some are rebuilt, too)to ensure it works as designed. Replaced several of the lines and have the full kit of lines which will come with the car. New switch for the dash. New flipper panel motor. It works both from the dash switch and the key near the fuel door. I also fully replaced the piston grommets as they often wear out and cause issues. Flawless performance.

WINDOWS: New switches(rebuilt originals) and rebuilt relays as well as the Knife Switch which is essential to the auto-drop. Again, flawless performance.

BUMPERS – completely rechromed. Unfortunately after the rechrome a local shop scratched the front in some minor spots – see photos.

ENGINE: New Edelbrock 1406 Carb and rebuilt CORRECT 3-PortCarter Fuel Pump. NEW expansion tank. NEW battery.New exhaust manifold gaskets. New oil pump gasket and crank seal. Runs well – no smoke, starts right up and is very strong.

AC/HEAT: FULLY sorted and redid the entire A/C system (drier, clutch, compressor, condenser). New Heater Core. The entire auto ac/heat system works perfectly and as originally designed.

TRANSMISSION:Completely rebuilt

STEERING: REBUILT Steering Gearbox and mounts and rebuilt steering coupler kit (wrag joint). Rebuilt power steering pump. New upper column bearing and sleeve and neutral safety switch

NEW Windshield

OTHER: New hood Insulation Kit and Bumpers, new Hinge Pillar Seals, rebuilt clock

As noted – you will NOT find one in original condition like this with this much mechanical refresh unless you buy a fully restored one.

Here are the items I still had to do:

The paint is fantastic, with only a few small scratches on rear quarter panel, a blemish on trunk lower lip (near bumper) and a scratch on front above headlight on passenger side - NO rust.

The interior is in good shape – original leather, with only one area on the top of the rear seats that needs work – the seams are separating in that area.

The Convertible Top is in good shape, but it is separated a bit from the frame where it meets the drivers side rear door window. This is common on these, and does not affect how it looks. There are no holes/tears in it, but at some point you may want to replace to make the car as near to perfect as possible. It is still very functional and looks good. Again – NO tears, NO rips, NO holes.

As you can see from the Marti report this is a rare car based on the options. Note that the report is wrong in one respect: it does NOT have bucket seats - it's a split bench. It has the headrest that extends on the passenger side and that works great. The passenger side recline does not, however. Also the vacuum operated door locks do not work. I spent hours trying to figure these out, to no avail!

I have a very reasonable reserve on this – it’s priced to sell. And I will hate to see it go.

Contact me for a much more comprehensive set of photos via dropbox.
