1993 Range Rover Classic LWB

56K Original Miles!!!

No Reserve Auction

Overview:

If you have been waiting for that nearly impossible to find, ultra-low-mile, cared for and loved Southern California Range Rover Classic then your ship has just come in! This is a very reluctant sale of a car that I truly feel is a needle in a haystack!

For those of you who have followed my decade and a half career, you know that I have offered some of the finest vintage Land Rovers available -especially the Range Rover Classic. This particular example gets me excited every time I look at it; Range Rover Classics have been chasing and beating in some cases, the Land Rover Defender in desirability and I think this one would reign supreme.

Performance:

She runs and drives brilliantly. She fires right up and sounds amazing. There are no exhaust rattles, engine ticks or knocks, and when you step on the gas she takes off like a rocket-ship. Acceleration is incredibly aggressive and transmission shift points are virtually undetectable making her a dream to drive. She is completely a window into the past of how they felt way back when – there are no clunks, bumps or rattles and she retains that solid, railroad car like feel. A testament to the ultra low miles and YES, the mileage is real, and state verified.

Steering is positive and effortless. There are no shimmies, slop or dead spots. Driven hard on Mulholland Drive you can truly feel the responsiveness and sportiness that the original designers intended it to have.

Braking is incredibly robust, quiet and powerful. Additionally, the recent brake fluid flush and refill has eliminated all old moisture and air making it feel like-new.

All HVAC functions work great (heating AND AC!) as do seats, windows, doors, sunroof, lights, blinkers, horn, wipers, courtesy lamps, etc.

The brand-new stock size tires are whisper quiet like the originals while offering an aggressive tread pattern for all weather driving.

She holds straight and true on the motorways and holds its own no matter where it is.

Aesthetics:

She is about as time warp as you can get. Not only does she feel like new, she looks the part as well. The recent concourse detail has made it absolutely stunning both inside and out and it’s a head turner absolutely everywhere it goes. The photo shoot for this gal was scheduled at sunrise - the perfect mix of brightness because in direct sun, this vehicles finish is absolutely BLINDING! The Alpine White paint is silky smooth to the touch, so much so that a micro fiber detail cloth will slide right off of it! There are no dents or body work. She has never been in any accidents and all panels line up straight and true. Historically, it’s the white palette of colors on vintage Land Rovers that will look like this for the longest duration and with proper care she should remain this way for many years to come.

Step inside and that’s when the richness of this luxury vehicle unfolds. The Saddle Brown leather finishing is nearly perfect EVERYWHERE – as if no one was ever in the vehicle. The leather itself is smooth and soft to the touch and a dream to sit on. There is minor to non-existent bolster wear on the driver’s outer bolster and rear left bolster. The rear bench has minimal baseball glove like wear. It has never been a smoker’s vehicle and there are no mystery or offending smells inside the cabin and with its newly refinished headliner she even smells brand new inside. The carpets are clean, soft and bright. The door panels are dark, even and sit firmly in place. The wood work – quite possibly my favorite type – Mediterranean Poplar is GORGEOUS. It is a beautiful honey color, un chipped, complete, and the “birds-eye” grain is the epitome of old-world craftsmanship. The center console – a subject of woe and despair for most Range Rover Classic owners is perfect. Glass and mirrors are clean, crisp, and scratch free and while it doesn’t snow regularly in the LA area the heated front windscreen and rear defrost work insofar as you can hear the appropriate relays engage when you toggle the switches. Another bit of noteworthy kit featured in this vehicle are the fully intact Range Rover LWB rubber floor mat sets. These are nearly as impossible to find as the vehicle itself and they are in great condition. On the outside, you either love ‘em or you hate ‘em, but the factory safari lamp guards are still in place and still in good condition both front and rear. Yes they show some wear and fade on the forward push pads but they can be removed easily enough. I have left them in place because they offer an echo of the Range Rover’s toughness now lost in current models. On top of that, the body colored Range Rover Classic 5-Spoke wheels are in fantastic shape with minimal to non-existent wear.

The upper tailgate is wonderfully rust free and all seals and molding line up great. The rear upper leatherette quarter panels are also in excellent condition as are the bumper end caps and bumpers themselves. The chrome bumpers sparkle.

This is the real deal folks. She is timeless and pure Range Rover Classic through and through. Its formidable heritage is matched with stately refinement and with all that room, cleanliness and power – it doesn’t get any better!

Service and Such:

This vehicle has been serviced routinely throughout its life with the most recent services including 60K mile service, AC service, new headliner, new battery, brake system flush fill and bleed, brand new tires, cooling system flush, front and rear brakes, and coil spring conversion. She has been given a concourse de elegance detail and is as fresh as she will ever be. Additionally, she has just passed STRINGENT California Starr Smog requirements, registration is current, the CLEAN CALIFORNIA TITLE is IN HAND and she has also received a thorough multipoint safety and condition inspection.

Your Ownership:

As I have said, I have owned, restored, and sold countless Range Rover Classics and I even race one off-road. I love these vehicles and am proud to see them finally (re)earn their place in status among vintage four-wheel-drives. While every effort has been made to check and fortify the vehicles current operating condition, it is not a new car. New to you, yes. But not a new car. She is sold as-is, where-is with no promise or warranty implied. There are no refunds or store credits or exchanges. Ebay offers 3rd party inspection services and it is strongly recommended that you utilize this service to verify any and all requirements to satisfy your understanding of everything she is and isn’t. Part of the enjoyment of owning a fine vintage 4x4 of any make is the correct enthusiastic approach to maintenance items of any kind – large or small – at any time. If you don’t embrace the whole esprit of vintage motoring, then you must stick to a new vehicle. This vehicle is fantastic yes but not a museum piece. It is in a class all its own, but not so precious as to be afraid to drive it anywhere. If you have any questions at all, PLEASE ask! I want this to be everything you are hoping for and for it to find the right person. That said, as I have been as transparent as possible with you, please keep eBay a great place to bid. If you do not intend to buy, don’t bid! At the end of this auction, it will come down to the few who really want it. Don’t throw in a bid just to see what happens. If you know “your wife will kill you,” or you haven’t asked Oprah or consulted the runes and especially if you think this is a Land Cruiser, DON’T BID! If I suspect that any bidder is playing games, I reserve the right to block that bidder, regardless of how many eBay stars they have. Please keep this fair!

As I have said, this is a good 'ole no reserve auction which means I will not decide to reveal my final price once you have one at the final bid. Similarly, once you win, it is not time to negotiate and tell me what you had hoped to pay. The final winning bid is the price of the car. Let's honor the gentleman's agreement.

Who this vehicle is for:

I think she is perfect for anyone looking to love and obsess over one of the last examples of its kind. She is in shockingly nice original condition and the fact that the original owner’s manual is still in place should tell you something too! There is an incredibly small number of Rovers out there under 60K miles. And this is one of those few. You will have bragging rights and drooling friends everywhere you go and while I suspect that she will end up as a piece in a multi-rover collection, I think she would also do well to be enjoyed as a country touring vehicle in any location, any weather, for any reason. You can leave her as she is and enjoy it on a daily basis or preserve her forever-in-time adding to it when rare accessories surface from time to time. Whatever the case may be, as I have said, she is likely one of the last of her kind. Don’t miss out. Thanks for the interest and Happy Rovering!
