Car description

Are you looking for an early Willys or Kaiser Jeep CJ5 to restore or recondition? This is it... a local estate barn find and one of the few unmolested you will probably see for sale.

This Jeep CJ5 has an ultra low 34778 original miles but is a project and will need work before it will run or be roadworthy. Please read on for further details, photos and videos. If you cannot see the video, it is available at

This classic Jeep spent much of its life at a golf course in a garage stored and used for lawn maintenance then stored long term in a barn. We believe it has had 2-3 owners and the miles appear to be original. It was consigned to us from a couple in Waukesha, WI.

Condition Report:

This vehicle has been stored for years in a garage and barn and is a fairly complete vehicle. It currently does not run. We had some minor diagnostics done and a tune up, and it ran for 5-10 minutes and then quit. We found the distributor shaft broke where it fits into the oil pump (slotted) and the external oil pump needs to come out to get the distributor repaired. We will leave this for the next owner. It will need a complete restoration or at least everything from brakes to tires to other mechanical work and maintenance to be road worthy again.

Cosmetically, the paint is an amateur job and the tub has rust. The good news is the rust is not horrible but it has been patched over the years. The seats, gauge, and other components appear to be original and unmolested. The windshield will need to be replaced as you can see.

The title is clear but it is bonded as it was lost years ago and we applied for a lost title application and was granted a clear WI title. Please do your research on a bonded title if you have concerns. We are an auction house and have sold a number of vehicles with bonded titles without incident.

To summarize, it is our opinion that this vintage 1962 Willy's Jeep CJ5 would be an excellent restoration or reconditioning candidate. Also note that as mentioned, it is being sold as-is-where-is and should be considered a project. This rare unmolested find would make a great project for the enthusiast or collector.
