Car description

The original Jaguar V12 engine achieves 80 PSI oil pressure and this reading is excellent. The engine starts right up, runs well and cool. The original radiator cooling fans work. The excellent four speed gearbox shifts smoothly. The car had all four brake calipers removed and rebuilt with stainless steel pistons 4 or 5 years ago along with a new brake master cylinder. The electronic ignition was upgraded to a modern Pertronix unit along with new cap, rotor, ignition wires and spark plugs. The car has been in Texas since at least 1982 and garage kept. The coolant hoses and heater hoses and heater valve were replaced. The four carburetors were removed and rebuilt about five year ago. A new original SU fuel pump was fitted. This car has the much more desirable four speed gearbox not the automatic transmissionknown as the "slushbox" by some owners as the shift points were terrible. Automatics were pretty much only sold in the USA market.
As the old rumor goes, Jaguar Cars, back in the 1960's, thought Americans were too stupid or lazy to shift a manual transmission so they began offering an automatic version in later 1960's E-Types. Many automatic E-Types were converted to manual gearboxes in the late 1970s and 1980's for owners that did not like the automatic transmission. The car we are offering was originally a four speed gearbox model.
Any questions, just ask.
The convertible top appears to be the original and needs replacing. We never bothered to use it. The leather seats are original and they need new seat cover kits. These kits are readily available from many suppliers. The rest of the cockpit is original and looks good. The A/C system is original right down to the hoses and is not operational as the system has not been used since 1982. The system is unmolested.
The radio is the original British Leyland AM/FM. The car is sold as is where is. We don't ship cars but are willing to help if we can. Houston is a major port.
When these cars were sold new, chrome wire wheels were one of the few options or upgrades offered at the time and if not selected, steel wheels with hub caps were fitted and were basically the same wheel and caps used on the XJ6 series II.
