Car description

Hello from sunny Palm Springs! A friend of mine recently called about this stunning "Lady in Red" he'd found tucked away in a garage in Glendale. an upscale suburb of Los Angeles. I knew at first glance that I had to snap her up for my fellow ebayers who can't get enough of our collectible California Jags. She's a true Southern California lady. for sure . not a speck of rust or unsightly decay to be found anywhere. Here are the bullet points for those of you who like it "short and sweet" . a more detailed description follows the 60 high resolution pics below. 1989 Jaguar XJS Coupe92. 00 original milesFlawless original Signal Red paintConnolly saddle leather interior in fantastic original condition . hides still soft and supplePerfect original Jaguar honeycomb chrome wheelsMatching set of nearly new tires (they're Coopers. but surprisingly quiet and smooth riding)Electrical features fully functional . NO. I'm not kidding!Starts right up. runs quietly. shifts through all the gears with ease. and stops wellQuite a looker. huh? After shooting the pics. I drove her downtown to meet some friends for lunch. I parked her right on Palm Canyon Drive. the main drag. and when I came back from lunch there were three different people taking pictures of her and with her. Seriously. Now I'm sure they were tourists. but still . just know that if you buy her. prepared to be noticed. She's incredibly red. painfully pretty. and she definitely knows how to draw a crowd!I'm happy to report that even though it was 90+ degrees that day. she ran nice and cool . no overheating issues whatsoever. I can also report that the A/C blows. but not very cold . no surprise for a car that's been used little in the past few years. Oh. and the Pioneer stereo system sound wonderful! I'm no fan of aftermarket stereo systems . except when they're in a Jag. The factory head units are terrible. OK. now to the Mechanic's Update I promised on Tuesday. and there's definitely good news for those waiting to find out what. if any. those suspected "idiosyncrasies" turned out to be. Thankfully the list was short. nothing on it was a big deal. and everything is now fixed. In fact. the only real repair needed was the replacement of a bad coil on the right side of the engine bank. The coil was apparently broken to the point that it was failing to ignite the gas in the injectors. essentially resulting in zero power coming from the entire right side of the engine. I'm mortified that I thought the car ran just fine the other day when I took it to lunch. OK. it was a little slow as you pulled away from a light and it smelled a bit gassy. but heck. every old Jag does to some degree. right? I just figured it needed to be driven around a while after being used so little over the past two years. Ends up it was really running on only half the engine! Like I said . my ignorance is mortifying. But not particularly surprising. I'm a car guy to the core. there can be no doubt . but the dirty truth is I'm completely dependent on my two mechanics. I can pump that gas like a madman. though!Anyway. the only other things he needed to do was install new brake pads and a new left caliper. and replace one of the two license plate bulbs. Oh. and he resealed the third brake light. As you can see in the pics. it had separated from the rear glass. I pick up the car tomorrow and will be driving it every chance I get through the weekend. Anyone who would like to talk to me about the this pretty gal should use ebay messaging and send their name. phone number. time zone and a good time for me to call. I'll also be happy to do a "virtual" walk around of the car with you and answer any specific questions you might have. OK. so that's it for now. As some of you have no doubt noticed. I've converted this listing to a fast. 3-day NO RESERVE auction where REAL BUYERS who want to own this red bombshell can bid aggressively with the confidence that this Jag is an actual. bonafide. real-deal California find ready and waiting to pretty up their garage . wherever in the world that might be!Thanks for looking and good luck!About me: I'm a private party seller who buys several unique. high quality cars and/or trucks each year that I know will find good homes with fellow ebay auto enthusiasts. If they end up putting a few extra bucks in my pocket. great … if not. it's no biggie since I don’t do this for a living. I've been selling exceptional cars and trucks on ebay since 2001 and have never had a single deal go sideways. as evidenced by my perfect feedback score. I have a tremendous amount of fun hunting all over Southern California for original. unmolested. rust free 1970's. 80's and 90’s vehicles. I only buy what I really. REALLY like. and. since the "saving" aspect really is the most gratifying part for me. I'm happy to pass along these special cars or trucks to those elsewhere in the country - and the world - where clean original vehicles of this vintage have long since rusted into the ground. Being in Palm Springs is great because not only is this place an awesome hunting ground for low mileage. zero-rust garage queens. but I can travel to virtually any "cool find" in Los Angeles. Orange County or San Diego in 125 miles or less. If you'd like to speak with me personally or have me do a "walk around" of this XJS with you by phone. just shoot me a note through ebay messaging with your phone number. time zone and a good time to call. Thanks for checking out my auction and have a great day!
