Car description

This 1974 Jaguar XKE Series III Roadster is a 4-speed manual example finished in British Racing Green over a Biscuit leather interior.

Records show that it was built on September 14, 1973 and imported to the US through British Leyland later that year. It is believed to have been sold new at British Auto of Frederick, Maryland, who also resold the car in 1979 to the second owner, with whom it would remain until 1986. A third owner acquired it that year and is believed to have driven it regularly until 2001, at which point the original 5.3-liter V12 suffered from a skipped timing chain. The car was subsequently placed in long-term indoor storage, where it resided until being discovered by the seller in May 2018.

This E-Type is now being offered as a non-running restoration project. The sale includes service records, the original owner's manual, spares, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clear Virginia title.
The included documentation contains a receipt from 1980, indicating that the exterior was repainted in the original shade of British Racing Green at that time. The folding soft top was optioned in black from the factory. Between 2001 and 2018, the car sat in a modern attached garage with a concrete floor. Photos of the car covered in the previous owner's garage have been provided at the end of the gallery below.
The Biscuit leather interior is believed to retain original the original upholstery and carpet. Factory-installed air conditioning can be seen below the dash, and a newer head unit was installed at some point. The seating surfaces are generally worn, and

a rip is visible on the centre console.

The driver-side floor pan, does have a couple of small areas of rust and a small scab underneath the rear bumper. Other than that, the cars is a very solid easy restoration project.

A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate is included, confirming the original colours, dates, and overall configuration.
Service records dating back to 1980 are included with the sale, as are the original owner's manual and a few spares.
